tools that surprised you how much you would use

This post may fall flat on its face, but after buying a 90 degree drill adapter for a job on the car , I though I would hardly use it again. How wrong I was it's been used plenty off times on the car and even helping me put cornicing on a wardrobe, due to a low ceiling. So this made me think what other outside the box tools could I not live without? That I pondered about buying for fear off not really using in the first place. My dremel, digital caliper and ickle 50mm air orbital sander all come to mind. What's yours.

Its not really unusual but every time I end up doing a job the mole/ vice grips are out. I have a bit of an OCD with them really ...must have about 5 sets.

Also those mini socket sets from halfords with 1/4 drive- take that everywhere

its an oscilloscope for taking electrical readings on just about anything,

here is a compression test on an engine i introduced a fault into, (took a plug out)

you disable the fuel on the car, (fuel pump fuse, relay ecu etc) put a clamp on meter connected to your oscilloscope over the starter cable and turn it over it wont tell you what cylinder it is but say if its difficult to get to the plugs its alot easier and far far quicker

My digital vernier caliper. Since embarking on this engine build and making some custom bits and what-not, it's been invaluable.

I bought mine in Aldi not because I thought I needed it but because it was cheap and I use it loads.
