That white one is clearly mint but that black one looks ace. If you want one for speed and handling take a look at mine if you want show and shine can't go far wrong with the other two.

Was told mileage was 80k - clocks showed 79k something... Checking through history, old mot's show mileage back in 2005 was 125k.... going by mot's looks like clocks were changed around 2009, car doesn't have every mot, missing a few so who knows what the mileage is?? No receipts for some of the work claimed and was told car was running 174bhp at the wheels when reading graph was fly wheel reading.

Car was a clean car, bodywork wise. Fully appreciate these are old cars, but had I know the mileage situation, I wouldn't have wasted my time going to view it.

I did 5 HPI checks in total when looking for my 5. Nearly every advert claimed lower mileage and owners. One car claimed 57k with a few owners. When checked it had 13 previous owners.

    Good luck mate.

Well after being let down by 1 member not selling his car due to it having issues, another promising to send me pics, another I viewed that wasn't as described I kinda gave up and bought something else...

Not to everyone's taste, something to have fun in though... Is a 206 gti that has 406 engine bored out to 2.2, turbo'd, stripped, buckets, uprated brakes, suspension, usual stuff etc... Running 286bhp..

Maybe if a nice 5 ever comes up I may end up with one?

Good jawb fella - I know what you mean about being messed around. Me 'n' TNT Ross did a 300 mile round trip after the bloke said yes he was selling the car, even before we set off. When we got to his neck of the woods he kept saying yes he'll be there in a minute etc blah blah blah, then made up some lame excuse his sister had died and never got back in touch. Must have got cold feet - loser!

Anyway - that sounds like a beast, get some pictures up and even better, get it to snettereton next month.

Re: Wanted - good spec R5

This is the reason prices for GTTs have gone up. The demand is there, whilst there are not enough good examples around and some sellers (messers), don't really want to let go (that's not a reference to anyone here btw).

As an aside, it would seem that the second-hand car market is a nightmare to negotiate for an increasing number of both buyers and sellers. Costing other people time, effort and money appears immaterial. This is what you get from a culture whereby everyone justifies themselves. What is immoral for one is acceptable for another.

So, if you want a decent GTT you either have to be lucky with your timing, or wait it out and run the gauntlet. Sad as it is.

Don't be put off by high mileage and previous owners. Mine has done around 145000 and has had 14 previous owners and is a great car. If someone is trying to hide it then be worried coz you don't know what else their not telling you.

Haven't driven it much yet due to the weather. It goes very well and puts power down well too as it has a kaaz plated diff. I have just ordered some coil overs for it, as is on standard shocks with spax 40mm lowering springs and is a bit bouncy.
