    aei unit

I've connected a foot pump to the aei vacuum capsule and raised the psi to about 10psi, it very slowly loses pressure. Is this normal, or should it not drop at all?

you sure it's not losing pressure through your footpump and not the aei?

It's a possibility, I've tried to put it on as tight as poss. I take it, it shouldnt lose any pressure then?

I wouldn't expect so, i mean i'd try it at home... but my instinct is to say that the footpump is the problem.
If you put a value in the vacuum line and use a decent boost meter you might be able to tell with some certainty that it's the aei that's leaking.

What problem are you trying to solve?

Shouldn't drop at all. If it is, assuming the footpump & pipework are air-tight, then it's probably a split diaphragm within the aei vacuum capsule.

Ok thanks. I will try and source another aei unit to test. The reason for testing is the engine isnt running quite right and its one thing I want to tick off the list

when youv got it pumped up get a fairly liquied/water solution in a spray bottle and spray on your pump, joins etc to see if its leaking anywhere
