    ph1 coilover swaps.

    Hello,

Just tried to swap my spax shocks for coilovers. What tool ( other than me ) do I need to get the nut to loosen at the same time as holding onto the nipple thing that pokes out of the top ? Is it a spax special design ?

Know that the nut is 23mm and the nipple thing is 10mm.

I had to grind down one side of an offset spanner to get it to fit in the top mount cup when fitting my Gaz coilovers, make sure you have the shock supported well in vice as its easy to round off the 10mm flats on the shock

    Offset spanner, impact wrench etc

You could go pmt like me, use a socket, clamp mole grips or stilhsons around said socket, use an allen key through the middle. If the shocker is scrap hold the shaft with mole grips..

There is no allen key on there,

Its a 22m socket but its got a peg rather than a nipple that you put owt in ..

Offset spanner and a whole lot of swearing I think ..

You can buy open ratchet and sockets that the pin can go through then you can hold it handy to have

Exactly what I had to do, even though I had my own. Mine was of dubious origin (China?). It took about 2 seconds once I handed over the suspect strut.
