    Ignition Barrel removal

    Any one know how to remove one on a 5 or even better an 8? Car I'm going to look at has the key missing and I'm going to need to get it on a trailer without the steering lock coming on! all help greatly received

    Drill the barrel out mate. You will probably need the key to remove it properly

    ****ter, 200miles from home and no drill. Ill drag it on the trailer and sort it when home hopefully

    If your stuck disconnect the rack or track rod ends. Whichever is easier

    Is this the renault 8 that was for sale in hull?

    If so, I can bring a drill over to you as I'm only 30 mins away

    Cheers buddy it's on the trailer now and on our way back, no steering lock on it so all was good once we took the front calipers off

    You can hit a screw driver into the snap off bolt, Undo it and wedge the bolt between the casing and the barrel to disengage the lock.
    Sorry it's late probably no use to you know.
    I did this when I picked up a 5 with no keys.

    no lock anyway. Well know you know just in case.
    No steering lock = mot fail nower days.
