my car smokes when my boost gauge is 3/4 cloudy white smoke. smokes even more in high gears ? i am aslo having to fill the water up every few days. but its not lost any power/speed

hi mate welcome to the club you may need to be abit more decriptive of your symptoms like what colour the smoke is are you loosing water ect

yeah its loosing water i am probaly filling it up every 3 days and its cloudy white smoke

im thinking the same, time to clean them hoses and rip that head off
been there a few times with my old 5..... does indeed sound like the head gasket.
yep... bye bye head gasket...
check for a mayonaise like cr*p under the oil filler cap, also for oil water mix in youre header tank m8, may also give you an idea that the head gaskets gone. how much boost are you running?

hi, iv got a similar problem with my r5gt , but my car only smokes on ideling and just when boost just keek in (white smoke) done head gasket just befor x mas, check for cream on rocker cap non and im not lossing water
i think it my be oil steam seals but not sure
any suggestions

oil stem seals wouldnt be white smoke as that would be burning oil and that would be blue in colour

is there water left in the exhaust system from when the gasket went last time try doing a compression check just to be sure

ok i check crompresson 2moro but if that fine , what could it be
also double check on the colour of the smoke it may be blue if it is then there can be alot more possibilities then report back
Smoking on idle, sounds like turbo to me
i mate i 100% it white smoke i fort it was condensation from were the car has been sitting there, but i took the car for a nice long run and the smoke clears when u drive it but when on idel for about 2 mins it smoke like mad
i was thinking that mark thats why i asked him to check the colour of the smoke as he said it was white
I'm more than certain its turbo mate
when i fist brought th car the turbo was gone and u could smell the oil burning so i put new 1 on , but the smoke dont smell of oil it more like petrol and it proper stings my eyes if that helps

With the simptons you got it looks like the turbo has gone, if you had water still in the exhaust it should of burnt away by now.
I must admit i've never noticed the smell of oil when i've replaced knackerd turbo's ut then i haven't been smelling the exhaust
[no it smoke so bad u got no choice or run away from it lol
take the air filter off and feel the turbo shaft for movement
there no play in shaft mark. i did ask u a few month back about a my turbo as mines had crack by the wastgate and i had turbo lag, the lag sorted out it was the actuator rod was bent, and the turbo is holding boost fine
That might need abit of investigating if the turbo has no play, when did you check it last mate?
about a month ago. but iv only just started 2 drive it again
Thrust bearing damage can cause this. It's very difficult to check unless the elbow is off the exhaust housing though. In and out play is what you're looking for, not side to side/up and down...
