I've just put another engine in with a different clutch casing and disc. using the same gearbox I had previously. Now I'm not getting any gears unless I remove the pedal stopper. Tried a new genuine cable and released the quadrant, but still no luck. The only bit I didn't change was the nylon cup, but it was working fine with my old engine with the same gearbox. Also I don't have an extended release arm.
Any ideas??
Clutch worn? Did you check it before fitting?

If its anything like my ap plate it wont work well. Mine wont select gears if the pedal is down to the floor fully, i have got round this by wedging a big chunk of rubber in the hole in the carpet
I had a extended clutch arm on and filed the stop down, clutch was good and never slipped and didn't seem down the the rivets. I don't recall taking the clutch off the flywheel but it was a while back now.
I could only think pedal was needing adjustment

File the pedal stop so the clutch pedal can get to the next quadrant.
take the stop off and adjust it manually..... then cable tie in place. i leave mine loose so when you take your foot off the clutch it flops to the floor completely..... no-one can steal my car because they cant drive it lol.
Ive got this exact same problem
The guy I bought the car off fitted an uprated clutch and this problem had developed upon test drive - took the clutch out and put a brand new standard one in - exactly the same problem!
Weird really - must be something wrong somewhere
we had this in the past either remove the plastic stopper that comes out altogether or file it down and put it back in till the quadrent moves onto the next tooth easy boys

Do you understand what he has said? I spent years thinking that there was a stopper on the bottom of the clutch peddle
Thanks for that but Surely that's not fixing it but just getting round what ever is actually wrong plus lifts the clutch pedal up so not in the correct position, would rather solve it and get it working right

Just file the stop down.. it sorts it.. trust me. Been there, done that.. only needs a little & you won't even know.. or bring it to me.. leave me with it for an hour i'll file it down give it back to you fixed & charge you £xxx... lmao
Or give the pedal a good tug up towards u, these cars are old and the clutch pedals bend slightly over time
I filed mine down and it made no difference,even went all the way down as much as possible, next step I'm going to take is to replace the whole pedal and quadrantJust file the stop down.. it sorts it.. trust me.
