    inconsistent idle f7r

when car has been running for a while the idle seems to be at 2k instead of 1k. if i stop the engine and restart it resets itself but then starts idling at 2k again. i have checked over the throttle cable plus throttle position and all ok i have also checked and cleaned the throttle position sensor. could it be the crank sensor playing silly buggers? other than that its mot'd and on the road!

Idle control valve might need a clean up?

speedometer cable feedback is probably knackered.

there's a pod just behind the speedo, this one receives + - and sends out a signal to the ecu.

Engines in a five using original clio williams box. Used the clio 1.4 rt clocks to allow for the speedo cable. management is original standard that came with f7r. hope this helps with the head scratchings?

Oh yeah, not sure if this is a coincidence or not but the rev limiter doesn't cut in at the usual 6 thousand or so revs like it did when in the clio. not necessarily a bad thing providing i dont get carried away!

Ha ha yeah maybe matt. shame tho as it goes really well and sounds good to. however that carb bark! mmmmmm. hopefully picking up a focus st170 engine this wkend for the escort so funds are gunna be too low to splash out on go faster goodies for the 5 at the mo but the cage is still a must.

The 170 engine is basically a zetec lump. It may have duratec on the top, but its belt driven, good engine that.
If you get the inlet system with the engine, you are onto a winner!

    I wonder why eh?

Haha yes matt i get ya!
Yep got the inlet but going down the jenvey route on the ST engine so wont be needing it.
But yeah food for thought tho. Have you used an st manifold for carb conversions?

Depending on the inlet pipe size, you can use bike throttle bodies from a late bike as these are between £60-120 as opposed to jenvey prices....
