CAT 1 Alarm & immobiliser removal

As if we didn't have enough problems at the moment
    https://www.rtoc.org/boards/showthread.php?t=31872

I have just spent the morning trying to start our poorly car to see if running it would clear the smoke, however it now want even turn over, we suspect its our very dodgy CAT 1 immobiliser as it has always caused us issues and been very temperamental since day one.

Does anyone know if it is easy to remove the immobiliser ourselves or know anyone in the North West that could do the job for us?

What should have said was, I am not the best at electrics so for a real novice could I really make a mess of this?

We are presuming its the just the immobiliser that's causing the issue. I'll aim to get a picture up tomorrow and take it from there. Many thanks
