    New shape tranny

Before I get agg from Scott/Bigfoot and co, I know this is a renault turbo forum but...

Anyone own or use the new transit? I'm going to buy a brand spanking new one, but before I do are they any good?

    Ta,

    Davo

Yeah neighbour has a merc, and got the paint warranty on it, they were blaming stone chips to the amount of rust on the van, but they were chips on the roof of the vehicle

Ah cool, that's good to know. I've never owned a brand new vehicle before- it'll be my pride and joy. Any particular areas to oil in particular?

    Thanks for the advice

I was told by the Old Bill that the new transit vans are the easiest to break into as I had my reno traffic van broken into a month ago.

The whole thing really.. As above the plumbers sprinter was crying orange from behind the door bump strips, fuel filler and I've seen it on a few. The fords scab anywhere and everywhere and it's not the odd one..

Have a google as there might be some threads of pure hate on various forums.

I have an old R reg hi ace 170k and still going strong, only rust is from damage.. Some manufacturers get it right, some don't seem to want to..

Hmmm, it's about concerning really... I've seen a cheaply transit for sale, but its reliability really. I'm in two minds. I've been told the older ones are more reliable than the new ones

It's just a tough decision I have on my hands, do I go cheap for a duratorq transit- about £2000 or go brand new and spend a fortune on a van which has average reviews

    Re: New shape tranny

I try a lot of vans at my work, my personal favourite is a Transit, feels a lot more alive and willing than all the others. 2nd favourite is the Sprinter, nice driving position and handles quite well for a van. VW Crafter is basically a Sprinter but without the extra goodies. I wouldn't get the Renault Master or the Vauxhall Movable, the doors don't seem to take any abuse and are hard to shut after a few years and the drive doesn't compare to others. Ldv vans are pretty awful. I would be happy to recommend a Transit, some models have a surprising amount of pull

Thanks mate, I've been offered a cheap and cheerful alternative- so going to view it before I go down the finance thing- I hate monthly payments. Lol

He's recommended me that model too.

Said the only problem is the box is prone to leaking
