Awesome, finally! Looks like they are doing a good job too. They look like a right motley crew though, lol.

    Looks like a lovely colour.

Are they colour coding the bump strips?

i must admit that im very impressed by what they have done, and for the price im paying for all the work its great
haha they are a good bunch of characters thats for sure, the guy you see on one of the picks with his white overalls on owns a mint saph cosworth, fiesta rs turbo and an a reg escort cabriolet which is an ongoing project.

yes bump strips were already color coded from previous owner(s) so stuck with that, i wished i had remembered to get the mirror base plates color coded as they look very dated/faded.

Get the mirrors removed on the day and ask them to just go over them quickly with the spare paint, can't make them worse eh

spoke to my mate who owns gt motorsport last night and i cant send my car up there until monday now as there is no room in the garage to store it until then .
so im going up pay the painter up today and then do any bits that i can up there for an hour or 2.

ill see about the mirror base plates as i also want to get the engine bay painted this coming winter.

When I had my last one done, I had the gutter trim strips along the roof painted satin black, worth getting that done when you sort out your wing mirrors base plate mate!

Hi Andy, wow she looks lovely!!! I will have to pop over for a look one day!!! Totally agree on the stickers, just a thought though. I was talking to a painter the other week about my 5 & he said you should wait a good week or 2 before fitting decals to allow something to happen in the new paint (cant remember what exactly, evaporation of a chemical maybe??) don't know if he was talking sense or not but its something to bear in mind. Don't want bubbles appearing in those nice new stickers.

Actually this ^ could be right, the paint will need to cure for a little while. Certainly something I would double check.

    Very true
If the car has been "baked" to fully cure the paint you will be fine.
If it hasn't i would be hanging on a bit before i got the decals on.

decals being fitted tomorrow, then it just needs side skirts fitting and it can go for m.o.t which it should pass easily so ill be able tax it on saturday.
also going to waxoyl it on saturday morning and refit my flocked door cards, give it a good clean inside then its ready to rock (i hope)

one side of my decals have been fitted, she wanted me go up and check i was happy with them before doing the other side.

anyone that knows me off here or over on facebook will know i suffer with a bad back quite alot and yet again its giving me alot of problems, but needless to say i will still be going to waxoyl my car tomorrow morning before the other sides decals are fitted.

great stuff andy glad you have stuck with it

i managed to fully waxoyl the car and we also made a new fuel reserve tank support strap as mine was knackered.

onto the decals everything was going fine all fitted and looked the business and then we come to remove the protective covers off them all i can say is it wouldnt hardly budge even with some heat on them, so it looks as if im going have to remove them and have the bottoms of my doors etc re painted not happy at all

    noooo.
hope they come off without to much hassle so that you dont have to repaint. do you know what material has been used for the decals as i can ask the lads in the sign shop at work what will be the best way to remove without to much damage. always a pain when things dont go to plan

Was the paint not hard enough or are the decals at fault mate, big shame if this has to end up back at the painters due to crap decals

its just the protective top film thats the problem, it should in theory peel away fairly easily but it just wont budge and the bits that did were leaving glue behind on the decal and obviously with it being so hard to remove was going to lift the actual decal

as you might see from the decal group buy thread, its a balls up on the person who was fitting my decals part as there is no protective film to remove so that one piece has to be removed then painted as no doubt it will remove paint, then refit that one decal

bit of an update topcat is sending me another passenger door decal up, what a top fella he is and a real credit to this club.
I also went the pub last night and car painter was there, he is going to sort the passenger door free of charge which is really good of him and its going in monday morning.
