    Re: morette headlights

You should ask him if he has the plastic strips that the indicator springs hitch on to. Missing from those photos. Normally fitted to the bottom rear of the lamp assembly.

I have Morrettes I'm not using and one of those is missing.

You can also see in the photo that some of the reflective coating has come off the inside of the lamps. Mine have a bit also.

    Re: morette headlights

Do you see now that black plastic strip on the rear of each that's missing from the other set for sale here? They are the bars for hitching the indicators springs onto.

Thanks all for suggesting Prima. They will be a re-seller and probably have no idea about supplying parts and just give a load of double talking hot air as in the past.

They used to come to Britain via somewhere in Wales I think. The contact info were possibly on the old RTOC site.

    Re: morette headlights

I did make a few wiring looms for these a few years ago. Think I still have one to copy from if anyone wants one for a small fee. Same layout as the 5GTT OE Morettes, copied from a new set.

    Re: morette headlights

If you go to the Morette website there is a contact page on there and you can ask them for all the details.

I have a PDF of all the parts including loom the only difference being is that the new Morette twin set use a different lamp and the guy never went into detail on if it was any different to the old wiring.

That just bypasses your radiators and reduces your cooling.

Unless you've fabricated a sealed air intake box over the wing behind the headlight where the header tank was and feed air to that through the left inner lamp hole.

I think it's easy to do though.

    That's why I bought Morettes.

Its easily done, not much to it. It doesn't really need to be up to F1 standards. Just cut a steel/alloy panel and screw it to a couple of L brackets, job done. Even without, your still increase fresh air flow into the engine bay and mainly to the air filter section regardless.

Which is a bad thing to do. All the air should be going through the heat exchangers unless there's a specific cool air feed to an enclosed engine air intake, as was the original Renault duct and filter canister.

Bypassing the heat exchangers defeats their cooling ability which is why Renault and others put all that cowling there to duct all the incoming air to the correct places. They spend a lot of money and time to get these aspects right, then people come along and throw it all away and can't understand why their engine is hot, especially as it's then got all that cool air going over it.

The 5GTT cup racers injected expanding foam to fill every gap at the front so no air leaked into the engine bay and all of it went through the intercooler or rad or engine air intake duct.

My bad valid and fair point Ian

Chris, you best get chopping up some materials like in the above picture's then to make it functional, looks pretty straight forward todo.

    Re: morette headlights

Send this guy a mail. He is the one I have been dealing with

    Harold O'Connor <harold@morette.com>

    From Me

    Harold

I have been speaking on the R5 forum and there seems a lot of interest still on these Morette Twin Lights. It would seem old habits die hard with us older ones. Can I just confirm that you are still able to get sets for the Renault 5 and do they plug into the existing loom or is there a bit of additional wiring needed which I would assume you would supply with the kits.

    From Harold

    Hi Russel

Yes we still produce them but in diamond optics

Have a look on our web

I ll dot it at 295.00 + 18.00 carriage gbp

    Re: morette headlights

I've also been onto them but the UK company:

    Hi Ian,

It is £49.00 for the Support Plate
    £15.50 for the Relay
    £25.00 for the wirings.

All prices include VAT but exclude postage. Postage is £15.00 as parts will be coming from the Morette factory (which is in Belgium). The owner of Morette is French but the factory moved over to Belgium when they reopened a few years back.

    Natalie
    Rapid Ford Ltd

    Hi Natalie,

    Renault 5,part 11 SUPPORT PLATE RIGHT INCL. SCREWS, Ref: 8 810 112

Also I'd be interested in the price of:

    6 RELAY Ref: 9 760 060
    7 ELECTRICAL WIRINGS Ref: 8 800 070

She said the parts are the same from the same tooling, just that the lamps are not now Cibie.

I asked here if Rapid Ford offer a club discount scheme. She said no they don't. Just on bulk buy orders.

    Re: morette headlights

As he's with morette.com that suggests he's in some way with the Belgian company.

Perhaps he answers their 'contact us' page submissions for the UK region.

    And arranges some sales.

Are you buying? Perhaps you could add the rear piece for mine then post it on to me saving me most of the postage cost? If I decide to splash out £51 or whatever it'll be. That seems like too much to me at the moment.
