    Rare as

Just got this in for a bit of major work
3l prv turbo ala A610 but mid engined and 50 more horses .Drives really well but with a fair few rattles and bangs .French, plastic and hand built so no suprises there
Will all of a sudden lose the ability to get gears ...everything outside the box is working fine so out she comes and in we go .
Got to record the details in and out + document it as there is zero data available ...trying in France but workshop manuals are non-existent

    Re: Rare as

Is this even a Renault? Very cool in any case.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------

    1991 Venturi 260 coupe

The French company MVS (Manufacture de Voitures de Sport) was founded in 1985 and produced mid-engined sportscars. Originally powered by a 2.2L Peugeot 4-cylinder engine, this was later replaced by the more refined 2.5L PRV(Peugeot-Renault-Volvo) V6. Fibreglass coupe bodywork, with a convertible version known as the Transcup being produced in 1988. In 1990 the MVS name was dropped, the cars being called Venturi. The company ceased trading in 2000, total production was only about 700 cars.

This 1991 example is powered by a Renault 2849cc V6 turbo engine, as used in the Alpine A610.

I'm trying not to think of that with 500bhp+ that's a good looking car, it's very Ferrari like but better looking than a many of them..

    Re: Rare as

Finally got round to pulling the box and it's not pretty .Good thing is it came out the back leaving most of the rest intact .
Clutch is mullered + loads of very fine powder covering every component Clogged up to the hilt and I think this is the cause of the intermittent loss of gear selection .
Anyway it will have new clutch + slave+ general service components etc and back in she goes .Flywheel of to be re-faced as has been slipping and blued up with heat cracks also .
Interesting stuff though and adding to my knowledge base in a good way

    Re: Rare as

Think I've got to the bottom of this .Apart from the crud and slipping the slave cylinder was not correct .I've had it apart now and it aint right .
Seems it was replaced a while back but was not ...it has been rebuilt using odd bits that are just not quite right .The piston is not a good sliding fit to the bore , ie loose fit ,and consequently is tipping over and jamming up every now and then .
Now we have a new slave ,new clutch and clean box I'm sure it'll be good .Should be back together by Friday I hope

    Re: Rare as

    Thanks Alex .

Parts are not easy ...It is all basically A610 but Renault do not want to know Seems now they refuse to even try to bring certain parts in from France .The clutch I had to beg steal borrow from a mate who had one as a spare .They are available but you have to go to Dieppe .....Slave I had as from ren25/Espace etc .
I have 2 610 + this to sort and looks like most parts I will have to get direct from Dieppe or SimonAuto in Germany who tbh is my first port of call in any case .German efficiency , usually takes about 3 days and it's on my doorstep
I go to Renault and it's a total lottery

    Re: Rare as

20+ but you'd be hard pressed to find one for sale ever .There is a 200 up for grabs at around 14 atm .2.5l turbo as GTA but not as good looking as the 300 .
