    Re: My F Weg Tungy

So windscreen got fitted on Friday and a few other little jobs finished and I managed to take it round the block a couple of times. Felt great to drive it once more after 2 years off the road. Engine felt very responsive with the various upgrades but I think I need to bleed the brakes again as they were not great

    Re: My F Weg Tungy

Well its been a while since I updated, main thing holding me back from getting the car back on the road is bleeding the brakes again and I've not had a helper available when the weather is good to get the car out and do it.

I have got some number plates now, so put them on. My F Weg Tungy has its name back on....

I did manage a couple of spins around the block on the weekend and left it idling for a while and the engine seems to tick over ok and changes into all gears. Also pulls well

    Few pics:

I recon if I get my act together it should be able to make a Jan meet, if its not raining

Steering feels great, don't even notice that it has power steering, just feels like a normal modern car, I suppose its more a case of now I don't notice it doesn't have power steering.

    Re: My F Weg Tungy

Spent a bit of time on the car today, things done:
    1. Front bumper strips stuck on
    2. Rear door cards cut to fit around roll cage and installed.
    3. Front trim installed
    4. Roll cage bolted in place
    5. Grab handles put in
    6. Rear seat belts put in

I've carpet covered the trim to make it look a bit nicer than the standard old grey plastic, just need to do the rear quarter upper panels to finish the interior off.

I had to re-weld the brackets on my power steering column as the wheel wasn't sitting straight, done this last week and re-fitted it today, feels spot on now.

Also went for a good blast up the road and round the local indistrial estate a couple of times to check the brakes, they seem to work well but the peddle does seem a bit longer than it should, i haven't re-bled them yet but will do when i have the time and a helper, should be ok for an mot though. Engine pulls like a train, the turbo rebuild, cam, nodiz etc all seem to have done the job nicely.

Going to try an get an mot this week, tyres might just scrape through so will see.

    To do list:
    1. Fit and seal exhaust properly (for mot)
    2. Refurb wheels or new alloys
    3. New Tyres
    4. Set up suspension and ride height
    5. Tracking
    6. Side decals
    7. Spray rear bumperstrip black

    Some pics:

Still looks great , I would be tempted to mask the bump and spray the bump strips black .

    Re: My F Weg Tungy

Going to spray the rear bumper strip with black plastidip, I've use this on the roof gulley strips and the door mirror plastics and it gives a nice matt rubber finish which i like. if the rear bumper strip looks good i'll do the fronts to match. good thing is it can be peeled off if it looks bad.

Got my exhaust sealed and the clamps mounted up out the way.

    Re: My F Weg Tungy

No painted seat belts yet , I am currently in the process of adjusting the rear ride height though. Made up some adjustable rods to push the rear beam down evenly on both sides so i can set the torsion bar in the right place as I want to raise the rear ride height so the arches sit just above the tyres.

Bit of threaded rod and some angle brackets did the trick. Of course the Cat is helping out again as well.

Lifted the back up, although even with the brackets holding it in place its a bit lower on the passenger side so will have to do it again. Dropped the front down to match, looks better.

Masked off the rear bumper strip and sprayed it with black plastidip. Came out a treat need to do the fronts now to get them looking all new to match.

My bumper strips are painted tungy and need doing. What prep did you do before you put on the plasti dip?

Car was clean so I just wiped over with a bit of surface cleaner on a paper towel. Sprayed directly on to the strip no primer required. Once it's dry you can peel it off if you want as it sets like rubber.

I shall be borrowing this technique from you! Sorry for the blatant copying!

Cheers for the continual hints and tips

And your car looks cracking btw.

Please do use anything I've done if it helps you, share the knowledge around the club I say. My top tip for the plastidip is build it up it light coats as it runs very easily on a vertical surface like a bumper.

    Re: My F Weg Tungy

cheers Matt, btw your engine is looking rather tasty

I managed to get the passenger side torsion bar to line up both ends with the trailing arm pushed down another 20mm or so, which is more than it is on the drivers side but it still seems to be sitting about 10mm lower on the ride height on the passenger side than the drivers side. The car overall is sitting higher at the back and looks about where I want it so I'm just going to stick with, it will probably even out once I sit in the car

No pics of the car so here's one of my garage roof that I have spent the last few weekends relaying the felt on. Water was starting to leak in and was getting my car wet so I took a crash course in torch on felt laying on youtube and became an overnight amature roofer, seems to be holing up so far

Console is covered with a cloth trim, tricky to do because of all the angles but looks great, cheers for noticing!

Can't wait to get some rubber on the rims and see them on the car, then get the side decals on, should look sweet
