Damn that is cheap, I was planing on a chopping up a pair of Gtt sills to fix the 9 sills
If there the real deal I'd snap them up before cgb clear there shelves.. I'm pretty sure he'd check there stock level and buy them up to close our options of cheap sills.

The going price on eBay seams to be £84 for one side so as above still a good pricestill good though!
Just about to order a set of these so will keep you posted on what they are like, you pay for what you get springs to mind herebut ill have a punt on them
. Worst case they are thin as fag paper,dont fit properly and last about 5 mins, sounds perfectly in keeping with the 5

Sills just turned up, they look fairly good and not overly thin either, haven't fully unpacked them yet as I'm still at work but will take some snaps when I finish
keep us updated when you fully check them over, might do mine over christmas
Just got a quick 5 mins to have a peak, they look fairly good, the metal looks if anything thicker than stock items, the primer coat is a bit scratched but that's not a problem.
Looking at this label and how discoloured it is, I'd say they were old stock sat on a shelf in deepest darkest Europe collecting dust till someone found them.

Just got a set myself to put away for future use can`t go wrong at that price if they are good quality.
I'd guess 90 % of the never been welded cars need a set of sills/large repair panels now and if they don't get them... Another one bites the dust.
The old stock won't sit in the back of the company long, they will be cleared out and put on eBay at twice the price. Get them now while you can..

My sills arrived on Thursday and they are fine. I have safely stored them in the attic
I agree with additional internal coatings to preserve and keep the dreaded rust at bay but I have also experienced with previous projects, red oxide or similar reacting with paint. I was advised by "classic restoration scotland" that its the best way of preserving a car that you intend to keep for many years, especially if it is driving in salt durin the winter months.
I'm sure someone on here had an issues with red oxide reacting around the windscreen and causing more damage than had been found. Can't remember if the reaction was with paint or windscreen sealant! My suggesting would be to use a rich zinc primer. I have just done my 5 shell prior to reselling all joints after a bare shell rebuild. Cost me £60 for zinc primer and sealant prior to an epoxy chassis paint and stone chip for the undersides
I'm also getting my escort cosworth done the same as we speak.
The last thing we want is to be spending money on keeping the 5 on the road for it to go against us a few years done the road.
If your like me you will only want to do the job once and do it correct the first time
The Weld through primer is a must it's designed to melt and recoat when it is being welded so they will never be any exposed metal, I always used a good quailty Red oxide when I worked in a body centre and never had any trouble, their is so many factors that can cause paint fall out.But any coatin is better than just leaving the phosphate coating.

Im going to order a bonnet from here and see what it looks like. Might get a set of sills just in case. Anyone actually fitted the sills yet? Are they a good fit?
I keep seeing these and thinking I should pick some up and store them, but running out of space for parts
Stay away from after market bonnets, they dont fit well. See you are after the mat on the bonnet as well, think you can get new but they are not cheap at all, second hand good ones seen them go for up to £100
