GTE Le-mans (Raider) project (VERY PIC HEAVY)

The pictures and texts are originally from a Danish threat, iv'e translated it and shortened it a bit... will update as the project progresses.. Hope you'll like it.. This is 6 months of progress..

This is the story of a little blue GTE raider project. After a few long years of negotiating with a friend, i finally bought his standstill (engineless) project, (after promising him not to put a boy-racer snowplow front on it...)

Finaly 20th of april 2012 Im on my way to getting a the R5

On our way home, a pitstop at a Burger king

A light "wash" and clearing out the boot etc.

Only rust i the car is the window frame..

    ______________________________________________

    Bumper testfittede

Looks like a little car now

I started to strip the car

    _____________________________________________

    Rearend stripped:

Front subframe removed to test fit the new subframe.

Trying to keep track of every screw so they all go back in the same holes..

Bought a Clio RSI engine (110 hp) which is legal to put in. And it was cheap! Here wit the GTE gearbox..

With a bit of a ghetto crane the engine is on the original subframe for at testfit..

Ready to go in.. i would recommend everyone to take the engine out this was.. so much less effort and no risk of wrecking paintjob in engine bay

Engine in.. 23 minuts later, did it alone, with 2 jacks and some wooden blocks

    Hole in one

    Wireing loom

Removed a couple of obsolete cables from the clio loom, as the original sensor loom is there

Shortened, soldered, and splicede wit a bit of R5 loom.

Engine loom wrapped in plastic flex for a OEM look

11 th of may The panel beater repairing the window frame

The front had to go to.. there was a big cut out from an intercooler, which had removed the brackets for the front grille.

Test fitted the front after i put the new front on it..

    _________________________________________

Ive been busy with the paint..

Ready to go in.. But need to have the car sprayed first..

    Clio 16v Radiator

    Valeo clutch

Re-testfitting the front, wasn't pleased with it the first time..

had to see it "on wheels"

    Have bought some R19 16v ph1 speedlines

    Rightside stripped

Gah the half cage is in the way

    Stripped

Gosh, found a bit of rust..

Raider badges removed. new (reproduction) is coming on..

    ________________________________________

    Removed the carpets

It is in a poor nick, but will have to repair it.. black carpets are rare..

    Engine bay stripped

The brake servo must also go, but easier with dash removed

    New (used) seats and harness

    Seat brackets

    lookin good

    Brackets..

    Harness bar bracket test fit

Nice project that but I've got to ask, why didn't you get a standard Gtt engine instead of the clio engine ?

Because of Danish mot rule.. To increase the power of the car more than 20% requires a certificate that states the car can handle the gain in power (From Renault Denmark) = impossible to get.. + the cAr tax in Denmark would require me to pay a new registration fee (a one time tax) of around £1000 or so..
But I'm thinking of putting a rotorex supercharger on it.. With a 2.0 bottom end.. Next year.

Good work, nothing better than fresh paint! I reckon you'll put a C1J engine in it oneday, just turn boost up and down as needed!
