R5 GTT Side decal dimenson and picture referance needed...

I have a company that are willing to make up replica decals. I have already explained the dot and fade and they think they can replicate the whole side decal in any colour.

If someone can please email me all the dimensions and some clear images of the decals and tell me what colour vehicle they are for it would be a great help.

If you search for side decals in the search feature there are a few posts on these. Some of them are the replica ones which the dot pattern isn't right, it blurs the dots together as they are too close, that was what I was having trouble with, need a find a company which does 25dpi printing I got told and around there.

I have saved all the pic's from that thread in a folder on my comp but I can't really get any further without dimensions or a sketch.

If I get a good set made up then i'll be happy to get them dished out.

I can always just measure the ones on my 5 when I collect it on the 15th. I thought I might of had a bit more response to be honest to get the ball rolling.

Also Dan would you be able to measure the top and bottom of the wing and rear quarter decals so I can get both the angles on the verticals?

Here's a pic of all the dimensions (in yellow) we would really need to get a replica made up, what does everyone think? I could make a cardboard template quite easy.

Unless someone would like to send me a set to copy?

I would like to say I would be in this for no profit at all. I am new to the forum so I don't actually know if people are already on to this. From what I have read in threads people are at a dead end besides getting them from Renault themselves so I am just trying to get a lead and help other members out.


If others are already on to this then I will do the decent thing and knock it on the head.

As said on previous ones, all companies can do a fade pattern thats easy. Its the how the dots go from larger to smaller which is the problem especially in the design that Renault done for these stickers, as per my post which I showed up a link I could get that close to it but the dots were way too small to make it look good and when on a car is just turns into a blur, its the same design as the people abroad have got. The ones from Raj which he done I think was the other way round, dots were too large in between them, even though they looked good which im sure most companies will have to get it depends on how close people are after with the originals

I'll have to look at the ones on my 5 when I get it, i'm sure they're still on i but i've not seen it in 2 years...

How much could you get them done for Bigfoot? Or what you think they will cost to replicate?

With cost of getting replicated think it worked out at around £50 delivered. Having just faded would be a lot cheaper as there is no real design behind it but guessing those asking for it wouldn't be happy with a fade they would want as close as possible to original

Haz said yesterday in the other thread that if originals can be scanned and supplied to him as a pdf, the company he spoken to can do them.

Can people possibly work together on these? Then they might get done for the first time Or at least, a list of companies who CAN'T do them can be listed.

I think only a new copy would be able be scanned due to shape of wing but you will have to peel apart one to scan. You will also have to scan the length of it, as dots won't be straight all the way across. Also scanner will have to be high res to see dot pattern so PDF will be useless

I moved this thread so they can all be here side by side in club talk.

spoken to the sticker place today. side decal replicas are no problem and would be at a good price providing i can supply them with a scanned in version on pdf or similar formats, their scanner could only do the wing and qtr decals. once i have it on file they can provide all the colour schemes from the one copy, its just a case of colour matching the ones on cars first time round and keeping notes of the codes. any other colour schemes for example light grey/orange on mine would be possible too but at a small additional charge due to it being a one off. no prices as yet as still need to contact some companies regards the scanning as that cost would have to be absorbed too.

same applies for any other stickers, batches of any colour rtoc logos etc. i can get these made up using existing ones to keep costs down as they dont have to design them from scratch. window stickers can be the inside or outside type, although outside are cheaper.

so all thats needed, once i've sorted a company to scan and convert the files, is some members to provide the samples

I'm trying to sort this atm, but like you need some to go off. I see your asking for dimensions so assume these will be getting made from scratch so I don't see how the company will replica the dots? To add to that, and it's been a while since I looked up close but they aren't dots I think they start at the wing as triangles then into dots? Basically they have been designed so they are very difficult to replicate. I suspect some members will be happy with a solid fade out and the gt turbo, but most will want it to look exactly the same but for some only oe will do but a good saving for one that is identical bar a minor detail I'm sure will be fine. That will need scanning, that's what I'm trying to sort out, but, by all means get a sample done

Scanning in the image will only have a certain res, then to convert to PDF can make a difference as well with the converter used. Other thing with scanning is background will need to be removed as its transparent. Other issue found is when printing white need to make sure it don't let light through the colour as on a red car will turn it pink

i dont know much either with the process, scanning or printing, i didnt ask. i just asked can you make these with a pic i had. they guy says that so long as its in pdf format, which is one they can adjust, or eps or al they can do it. just not the likes of jpeg etc.
once he has the scanned image in that format he has ink colour charts to which i can then offer up to the various sets on cars to pick the best match, then its just a case of then doing their thing. your prob right dale, but i shall double check regards the white.
so yes, either purchase or a donation. a purchase would be better in the event that it doesn't go to plan and have an upset member, but i have expalined the rarity of these items and shall be checking upon each process that it definately can be done before peeling open the backing. i have seen some series 1 rs turbo decals they have done in the past and bar one missing dot for copyrighting looked spot on.

If we buy one set for say a red 5, get them copied then printed can we then mess around with the colouring afterwards so everyone can get a set for any colour of 5 rather than having to buy a set for every colour of 5 to start with?

No point going for red as that will not scan well as they have changed the design, what you want is like the white 5 which has dark dots rather than the white/silver dots from the red one

The guy got back to me and he was asking for the chassis number from may car to see if he had any other decals that would match a white 5. I don't pick my 5 up till weekend so there is no chance of that, I have asked him if there is any other way he can find out for me.

One of them on Ebay is for a red gtt the other doesn't say what it is for. I've emailed the seller and waiting for my second response. I'll let you know if it's for a white 5 as soon as he gets back to me.
