Clio DCI 2003 - Steering Problem

My sister has picked up a car and there is a donking noise coming from the steering, mainly when the wheel is turning, I have been told that this may be down to a UJ problem on the steering column, has anyone had this issue before or what else could the problem be, drives fine, brakes fine without any noise and turns fine its just when it hits a bump that the noise appears when turning.

    Cheers

Yeah I did, sort it quickly as mine failed when being tested. I'f it had failed when driving it could of been nasty.

I had a thread on cliosport about 5 years ago about it with photos. Had to fit a new column. Dont take any risks.

So as its just knocking can a new UJ be enough to sort it out, or does it need a new column? Did you have to replace your column because it failed?
