    Clio 182

Well a friends just had his dephaser pulley and cambelt changed, due to a misunderstanding he didn't change the auxillery belt. On full lock it's started squealing, how do I tighten it up, any guides for this and pics of doing the cambelt as I quite fancy one of these too!
It's a full fat Clio 182. Cheers guys and gals.

You can't tighten the aux belt, its tensioned by a spring loaded damper... If thats the right name for it..?

Doing the cam belt is a complete Tw*T The aux belt uses a tensioner arm pulley affair that cant be adjusted, you can get a aux belt kit from renault for about £85 that comes with the belt, bottom metal roller and tensioner arm thing. If its making noise then the belt is more that likely dead.

Couldn't put it better myself... Done it once on a 182 and its not something I'd want to do again...

thought so, told him to get the auxilery kit while he was getting the dephaser and belt done but he got his wires crossed and thought it came in the cambelt kit from Reno! What are his options guys, just sequels with the car stationary on full lock. Can it be done on its own?

Yea the aux kit is not too bad to do, its engine mount off to get to the arm thingy, bottom roller i have to grind a 13mm 1/4 socket down to nothing to get it on the bolt between it and the inner wing but its possible. ENJOY

Silly question but are you sure its the belt making the noise and not due to low power steering fluid?

Yeah that what I thought it was at first as it was at min level, topped it up then still made the same horrible noise, investigated further visibly and noticed the belt slipping on the power steering pump pulley when getting full lock while stationary. Do the automatic tensioners often fail, can I get away with just putting a new belt on?

Thought it was originally 72k, then got shifted to 36k after problems with them snapping. Consequently the millage is on 96k with a stamp for cambelt and aux belt at 72k.

You should really fit a new kit along with the Aux belt every three yrs or 36k.

Hardest part I found was fitting the aux belt, I found the tensioner is a right pain to get to without the right tool, took me ages, cambelt was a piece of piss to do compared.
