Don't think it does mate, bolt holes don't line up and spaced little different.

If you thinking of fitting the c1j to a clio you can use the original clio frame no probs

You can use the renault 5 gt turbo engine mounts so that its subframe mounted but the only thing that needs to be done is the gearbox mount hole to be drilled into the subframe. The other holes are already in the clio subframe

Wirings fairly easy to do mate, done few c1j conversions in clio already.
Depending on which clio you buy you can use the original clio brakes, hubs and driveshafts
You will want to use clio gearbox too as this will keep the standard speedo working, the 5 has electronic speedo while clio is cable

Does the car have power steering? If its a manual set up will be easier for the engine change or if it has power steering you can change the set up to a poverty spec manual set up which would be the steering column and rack or just bung the power steering rack up and still be usable.

If you leaving engine standard then that box will be ok, if not then go for a Clio 16v gearbox. All clio boxs of that age will fit the c1j engine

    Re: Clio Subframe

I would try to get a clio 16v complete car as it will have the wider front track than a poverty spec clio, thicker driveshafts, rear brake discs already fitted, big comfy seats, better gearbox, 3 oil dials which you can change to 52mm gauges and make it look tidy and keep standish looking.

Also I am not sure if the 1.2 fuel pump would be up for what you need so might be easier fitting an external uprated fuel pump or in my clio 1.8 16v c1j conversion the fuel pump was fine for what I needed.

Mk2 someone has done it in the past with a C1J but to what extent it is different to a mk1 I am unsure. Not sure if the gearboxes are compatable. I know someone fitting a clio williams 2 litre F7R engine into a mk2 clio and the downpipe is hitting the ARB so it might be minimal difference or it could be quite a bit.

    Re: Clio Subframe

i used a clio 16v, best looks, has the handling and brakes to deal with a good powered c1j, although it gets lighter at the front and the nose lifts.. some aftermarket coilovers should be added to the car funds..

bin the abs and make some new lines

you can cap off the pas rack or bin it for another clio manual rack using the rack itself and a steering column extension..

use the clio loom hacked up, its pretty easy to wire up, worse bits the fuel pump wiring but thats not hard if you put your mind to it, simple circuit..

i used a gtt sidey for the exhaust..

use the clio gearbox as said, then the speedo and shafts etc are already sorted..

i put a few pics in my photos so you have look at the room you have.. i remember it being a cnut to do but it was all money problems, i didn't have enough to buy the things i needed.. i got pi55ed off in the end and fcuked it off, but in all fairness the hard work was done and all it needed was making pretty under the bonnet..

problem is you trying to fit stuff that doesnt, making it look right involves tools, a good eye and money.. my intercooler run was sh1t, i hated it.. go oe and really plan for an aftermarket set up or you'll pi55 money away.

go oe all the way in fact, get it all in, working and looking good, then work your was around the engine bay sorting anything that looks wannkk

    Re: Clio Subframe

Thought id do a post on what i did for mine

I used the 1.2 fuel pump and it worked fine ..but i upgraded it to a 16v pump

Subframe wise you cant use the 5 subframe as the front comes up a different way ...clio subframe accommodates the mounts apart from the front gearbox mount ..which you will need to drill a hole in the subframe for

My clio was originally a 1.2 ..but i used 16v running gear..front brake setup with some decent pads

As for wiring i got miller from here to make me up a working wiring loom using the clio plug ...my third engine conversion was done by markey mark which he used a renault 5 loom on..which im using now.

As said if you need help theres plenty of threads on this forum and a fair few members that have done said conversion including me and reco
