    Next

Ive just looked at the wiring loom and that seams a mission to wire it all up, any tips? does it have to be cut?

Cant the two boxes of the loom sit the the scuttle bay?

On my inlet manifold i tapped the tube that normally has the standard volvo servo pipe connected to, then screwed the one way valve into that. If you have look at my B18FT Extra thread (engine pic) you'll see what i mean

As for wiring its pretty easy mate, it took 3 wires connected to the volvo loom to get the van started. All the joins will be at the pink/red plug on the end, thst where it'll connect to the car. There is a guide on here on which wire goes where, i can't remember off top of my head bu you'll need to know if you got early or late loom

Yeah the ecus can live in the scuttle area, be worth protecting them though.

    Re: Questions

Ok cheers Mark. Can i cut up the loom? so its the right length as the loom is super long.

My loom is from a 480 turbo on a 1990 plate if that helps.

    Cheers.

    Re: Questions

Regarding the loom everyone runs it anticlockwise from the coil, maf around the front, normally across the top slam panel to icv, alt etc then to the injectors and through a hole in the bulk head, its a pretty good fit tbh.

Im a fanny and took mine from the alt in between inner and outer drivers wing, cut 2 holes so it came in behind the battery which on my car is on the drivers side then down in behind the dash right round the back of the heater matrix and mounted the 2 ecus nice just behind the fuse box. I then used the spare fuse block holder fitted another block with my 4 fuses and wired up from there to the fuel relay, ignition barrel etc Nice and tidy

    phil

Also the oil level plug on the sump has 4 wires from it which 2 do i need to connect it to the renault loom?

    Thankyou

The red wire goes to the alt live, the top single plug uses one wire from the Renault loom think it goes on the right spade, that will give you the light on your dash and I think the plug on the sump black if I remember is oil temp, nothing to connect it to. I think that's all right it's been a while, I'm sure someone will correct me lol

depends how you connect the cooling circuit, i always put pressure on the exp tank.

Sounds like you got an early loom on your car mate

From what remember (done one little while ago in Clio)
    -Grey = 12v ignition
    -Grey/Red = fuel pump
    -Orange = cranking 12v
    -Blue/Brown = rev gauge

Will double check but sure that was it

Do you have a spark? When mine didn't fire up it was due to the injector harness and the loom where they met a pin had been pushed in worth a shot.

    Re: Questions

Ive done mine like Haz said in another post,

cant find any pics atm, assumin your usin std volvo bits and the gtt header and gtt rad. on the back of the head there's a pipe with 3 outlets.
largest goes to heater matrix lower port, back out of top into header tank nearest port, out of other side to metal pipe that runs round front of block.
highest one goes to top port of header tank, self bleeding.
bottom one goes to lower of turbo ports, out other side and back into metal pipe round block

But i have no heater matrix so ive gone from the large outlet on the head to my header then the other header pipe to the pipe which runs around the block. Also ive done the outlet of the turbo to the pipe that connects to the rad.

I only ran the car for a few mins and my header tank was hot! but how ling should i let it run for to give the rad a chance?

    Thanks.

Yep, put it in a pan of hot water and see if it opens. Of course you may also want to use a thermometer to check its opening at the right temperature as well.

    Re: Questions

The herder tank will get hot first as hot water from the head will go there first, the stat should open after about 10mins keep feeling the hose from stat to rad to feel when it starts getting hot. Then leave it and keep an eye on the temp checking the rad is hot at the top (no airlocks) and that the fan cuts in. Have you fitted the temp sensor from the c1j for the gauge? If so it should go to the 11o'c line then the fan cut in. If you're using the Volvo sensor it will be at the slats when the fan should kick in.

Strange, I know when unplugged they idle higher. I don't run one but I wouldn't sudgest it as I will be going back to using one. Maybe your throttle body needs adjusting, but I'm just clutching at straws really does it idle slow when plugged in then?

There's a brass screw under a plastic cap, but if that cap is still there chances are its never been adjusted so leave it. The icv itself may be at fault, but I have no idea how you would test it.
