    Engine OIL Grade ?

    Just a quick one..

What grade of engine oil are you using in your R5 GT phII ?

I remember speaking to some guy at KTEC a couple of years ago who was saying that they use '5w30 - Fully Synthetic' but to me this would seem to thin ?
[N.B. Engine has under 10,000 miles since full rebuild]

    Any advice appreciated..

very thin oil 5w 30, i use 10w40 semi and change it often. Fully synth is mainly for long service intervals 12-18000 best to not leave it that long really. If you want to have a long time between changes then go for fully synth. Mineral is actually what our suppliers have listed for it lol

10/40 semi for a lowish state of tune. I use 10/60 fully synth in my van though.

Halfrauds part synthetic 15-40 purple can around £15-20 for 5 litres, most places list mineral oil for the GTT in standard form, its still an old pushrod engine afterall!

Good oil, its called mobil super 2000 now mate.

Id steer clear of cheap synthetics tbh they go black very easily. I used to use the comma oil and got it that hot/thin i got black flagged at mallory park for bellowing smoke out the exhaust. Oil pressure went down too. Dont scrape on oil imo, im sure the 10/60 i use in my van has kept the bottom end in one piece!
