Well the wukbrid has been off the road for 8 months...and what an 8 months had the 2.0 runnign like a dream, cracked the 14.4 1/4 i wanted probably more in it but im not wrecking my box, so mechanical sympathy is assured. haad it remapped it made a solid 181bhp

as you may or may not remember her

so anyway, removed the engine, interior, wings etc etc and off she went for a respray.

    found some rust

Hi ho hi ho its of to the bodyshop i go

    more rust

    no more rust

    down to the bone

    Primer

bit more rust found under skuttle but easily sorted

    guide coat on

Paint is based on D60 Lunar grey but with a lil difference

door shuts, engine bay painted and lacquered

    wings and boot lid

car in base coat... nearly kept it like this tbh

    Lacquer time

    on way home

    home

    wings and lights on

    engine refit

used towel method to avoid scratching bay.. in hindsight pointless now cage is fitted lol

Re: Rebirth of the WUKBRID (WARNING VERY PIC HEAVY)

    hmm thats not right?

    doh

    UPRATED

    oooh red

    mini shoot

big box with Custom cages multipoint cage arrived.. couldnt resist at the price, mocked that in place

in the mean time we set about removing the entire interior and getting her running, this went (aside from a **** earth) without fault,

2 months later, shes off to the fabricators

    Tacked it in

realised that uprights dont give alot of room so will have those chopped in

ALL fitted with upright amended through the Door X

    Big thanks to

    Super Job matey!!

Bet you wish you held off painting it until you got the cage fitted so you could get the whole lot painted at once?

Did you get those wheels off Flan or did you paint them red?? Just wondering if they're the Red Williams Alloys I got powdercoated for Flan's 1st VAG Clio I owned for a couple of years?

Interesting colour , looks nice in the daylight pics , think the red wheels suit the colour
youve went a bit mental with the cage ? bit ott for a car with only 180bhp must add alot of weight ?

Nice job, need to get rid of the gay sticker in the back window though, no one is too cool to spool, you should replace it with '' Boost, the replacement for displacement''

Sound mat will take out a fair chunk of weigh, the lexan windows dont take out as much weigh as you might think unless you fix them and then remove all the winders etc.

Re: Rebirth of the WUKBRID (WARNING VERY PIC HEAVY)

Lexan windows and winders....pffft that's like having Rivita with lard on top lol

Seats I'm getting are stupidly light too!

    No soundproofing
    No door cards
    No rear seats
    No Belts
    No Window motors
    No glass windows
    No roof lining
    All glue removed

Car is much lighter than a stock car with rear seats out

Re: Rebirth of the WUKBRID (WARNING VERY PIC HEAVY)

so another small yet large Update.

Sooo basically my "Lunar grey" has had a bit of an issue, the paint formulation was, well, wrong.. under regular "over cast" conditions and in the booth.. the paint looks Grey.. however.. when its exposed to the Bright sunshine we are so used to in the UK.. it changes colour, and goes Moave/Lilac...NOT what i wanted!

    overcast

    sunshine :S

    in the booth

    sunshine :S

So after speaking to the paint company explaining that i was concerned in finding a match for the paint in the future.
The out come of a few very light hearted emails with the supplier explainging my "lunar Grey" was more "Lunar Ghey" was the paint manufacturer have basically said they will pay for a respray in the correct colour... A very pleasant surprise.

So the car is currently in the body shop having the body resprayed in D60 lunar grey (ill be seeing a test panel first) the interior painted in D60 Lunar grey and the rollcage painting in 727 capsicum red!

Very excited to see her back now, Excited to get her home and have the dash fabricated.

Then its just basics left but still alot of ££ to go

Taken these parts home to aviod scratching.
