    Nope...

Winter weather, new cars, work on new cars, general laziness put a hold on it for all this time

I know what you mean, i've been doing some work on, was going to put up a project thread but decided I didn't want everybody to know how slowly it's been going

hopefully now the weather is getting better things will start moving again

Thought I'd add some pictures of her in her current state. Hopefully gonna get the interior in this weekend

Mouldy steering wheel It had a leak, which is sorted now.

Some rust around the drivers side rear arch. Luckily it is where the plastic arch sits, so repair work will be covered. That will obviously be done soon! Just waiting on my dad to buy a new mig welder.

Did a few things today.. mostly sorting out the electrics so I can put the interior in.

Wired up my gauges as well, but used a taillight connector block to make it neater / easily removable:

Should have the interior back in by the end of the weekend, then it will pretty much be ready for an MOT.

By the way - does anyone know what these two wires are for?

Could be wrong but I they look to me like the wires that connect to the instrument display brightness control just to the right below the steering wheel

I was doing jrp's dash the other night and he had the same grey wire with the round female connector and it has no connections to connect with I therefore just ignored it, i have seen it in the past on a few of my old 5s and have had no problems with ignoring it.

Project looks fantastic Bric love it, you planning on having her ready for mallory this year?

James - yeh mate.. Planning on getting it MOT'd ASAP. Just doing the bare minimum really to get it through the mot. Gonna leave the skirts and arches off, and I don't think I'll put much of the interior in yet. I'll do all that once it's road legal.. Should give me more motivation.

Matt - tell me about it. Money is my issue at the mo as well. Things are begining to look brighter money wise though

    Sphinx - cheers mate

i dont no wot these wires are for but i can confirm they are oe but not used by the gtt, the dash wiring loom is probably a generic part for all r5s and these wires are prob used by another version ov the r5, prob campus with power steering or automatic transmission etc..

    More work done:

Dash out, because of a leaking heater matrix

    More rot

    Mid fix

    Welding done

After doing all the welding, it was all painted / undersealed, and I got to putting the bodykit back on!

The marks on the side skirts that you can see are just from the paper they were stored in. They had been left outside, and the paper had stuck and dried to the skirts - it'll wash off

    Looks like a car again

It's sitting very high at the moment, but uprated suspension to come, when funds allow!

Ready for an MOT now! Not 100% finished, as can be seen, but just a few finishing touches and she's done.

Going to book it in for an MOT this Saturday. Insured on it already, so if it passes, I'll get some tax, and I'll be out in this GT Turbo for the first time in 2 years!

    Pics:

    How it looked Saturday morning

How it looked Saturday evening (seats are quite loud, and probably not to everyones liking)

    How it looks this evening!

    Really happy with it!

She still needs a few bits doing till she's 100% done, but yeh... Really happy!

It looks grea buddy, I love the colour and how you've kept it simple, as James5 said needs lowering

Only one thing, that colour kind of makes the sides look abit plain, have you thought about a factory set of side decals?

    It does indeed need lowering!

I have actually.. I thought some black style graphics, like I had on my old ph.1 would look good. Pic:

I'm not sure I'd like them as solid as that - maybe more so it fades out.

Re: Renault 5 GT Turbo undergoing lots of work :)

    Bit of an update.

Won some seats on eBay for £60. Took a bit of a risk, as I hadn't seen them, and the description was a bit brief, but they turned out to be pretty good! They are standard GT Turbo seats, but retrimmed in blue leather. Main problem was, they were in pembrokeshire, which is a 4.5 hour drive each way , so I went and got them in the BMW last weekend.

Basically changed them as I've gone off the buckets that were in it. Back when I started this project, the plan was to have it stripped and caged, but my ideas have changed, and I want it a more OE+ look.

Anyway - took a few pics. Not very good ones.. just took them on my iphone.

I've since fitted the gear knob surround too.

Re: Renault 5 GT Turbo undergoing lots of work :)

Had a go at lowering it today.

Drivers side torsion bar came out nice and easily, but the passenger side, not so much

Got it out eventually though, and lowered it ~40mm. Think I went too low though. It's catching the arch cover on the drivers side (it's lower on the drivers side), and the passenger side will probably catch with people in the rear.

So next weekends job is to take them out again, raise it probably ~10mm, and get it level as well. Not bothered about raising it, as it's probably a bit too low at the rear for my liking anyway.

Pictures (sorry they're crap - iphone quality and poor light):

Yes I know my numberplate is wonkey, and knackered... I have a new pair waiting to be fitted!

I don't think it needs decals. Looks well as is. OE spoiler, clear fogs and for me raider seats and OE steering wheel would be how I'd go.

Those wheels are absolutely top too.
