Who wants some?
There are very few Turbo 1 and 2 cars still going in the UK.
We are in the process of having some original looking replacement dials made but before we do we'd like to find out if anyone in the UK would like to put their name down for a set.
Just post on here if you do or if you know someone who does or might.

i'm not sure if turbo 1 and turbo 2 dials are the same....
turbo 2 are the same as gordini/alpine/le car 2/laureate turbo i think.

He did most recently ask if we had Renault 5 Alpine Turbo or Gordini Turbo dials.
I've just gone back through the email and found his original one asking for 5 Turbo 2.

So the T2 is just two large dials and two small ones.
The T1 is two large, two medium, six small.
I phoned Lockwood.
It appears they have both Turbo 1 and Turbo 2 dials.
The former are lose dials and the latter are in a "brand new unused" binnacle.
He said we more or less have to forget about the Turbo 1. They are a thick plastic that is rebated in the back. He said if a wealthy owner said "I have one of these in my collection and MUST have dials" then they'd suggest he gave them £1000 and they'll get started with making prototypes, which would likely take a few days, until they have something the same shape and size. To start with this case it's not with about printing or artwork, but the time and difficulty to reverse engineer, design and make these thick, milled plastic pieces. It we were going to sell a few hundred of them it would be economically viable for the RTOC to invest. If one for a few millionaires want to pay what it'll cost to have a few made, that will also work.
The turbo 2 is now under investigation and they will get on with taking the item apart and see what's what with it and the dials contained therein. He said they look riveted in. If they too are thick and milled then the same applies unless we can spread the development cost over, say, 50 sets, but that means 40 or 50 sales and not 40 kits in stock for a few years.
He's going to send me a photo of the dials as confirmation of what they look like.

It was mentioned to me, I think by Miller, that the GD might be the Turbo 1 or 2.

A search of the RTOC data base show there are 5 members listed as with a Gordini turbo who's last activity was at least 2011, and a few more who never posted.

Better made? Fade proof? Has yours been in a garage for most of it's time?
i think the car spent alot of time in a garage, whilst the owner was away.
dont get me wrong, they arent bright orange, but they are still orange enough.

Sparkie, is the speedo in your car MPH or KPH?
Lockwood have, of course, only quoted for a KPH version as they don't have a MPH dial face to copy.
Can one of you supply a MPH dial face? I expect you'll get it back un-damaged as I asked Lockwood that and they said yes.

Cost of development could be as much as £3000. That's with no dials made, just the design template. And there is the possibility that they won't be able to do it as the plastic is very thick and needs rebates milled out of the back. Basically they won't attempt it as it'll use so much time and may fail.
So the bottom line is that if a wealthy person wants to potentially burn a few thousand to see if they can make a set, then they will have a go, but if they fail that money is lost.

those are the gordini turbo/ turbo 2 clocks - the turbo gauge is seperate along with the oil pressure gauge below the centre vents.
the red/white/blue sticker makes me think that its from an alternative manufacturer, as mine are jaeger and very clearly printed with no red white blue sticker- that one looks alittle fuzzy. my direction indicator is also green.
Sparkie do you think then that the boost and oil pressure should be included in the set?
Are they also the standard orange items?

This is turning into more trouble than it's worth.
We only have maybe sales for 11. That may go up a bit but Xenon is not keen it seems as he's not replying really, never mind chasing us for them.
We'd need a UK set including the other two dials. I certainly am not got to spend any time trying to find some that Lockwood can copy.
Lee, the man that you mentioned, are his dials available for copy?
Maybe Lockwood can get the accurate design from them and make the colour similar to, errm, orange colour

Feedback I'm getting is that generally the dial faces are OK .It is the needle that has an issue as it gets stuck and bends

That's a weird one, isn't the needle is a rigid bit of plastic? Do they mean the the shaft to the needle somehow bends or slips and allows the needle to rotate out of alignment?
Ian, the needle physically bends downwards towards the face over time!
