Are they genuine Renault items? If so count me in for a tank + blue cap.

    Re: Expansion tanks and caps

can you do 2 things for me:

1 - say what it is you're selling, I can't see the image (it's blocked at work) is it GTT, if so is it PH1, or PH2?

2 - post the image on RTOC (using the "upload pictures or files button" that appears below when you make a post) as those images don't get blocked.

quoting from haynes for renault 19

    BROWN CAP : 1.2 BARS (19 1.4 /1.7/ 1.8 8v )
    BLUE CAP : 1.6 BARS (19 16v )

to my understanding hotter running engine
    needs higher water pressure .
hence all 16v models are supposed to use the blue
however many williams owners mentioned they
had brown caps on their cars in the past
which makes it even more confusing again

if it gets any hotter than ambient it'll build up pressure, if you don't have pressure it's because you have a leak - maybe your rad cap doesn't seal.

oh yeah, the difference been a low and high temp stat/switch is something like 6deg, 83 compared to 89? Not massive.

no rad cap on it at all, doesnt have one.. all bleeding nipples are fine an honestly doesnt build up pressure unless its very minimal.. but i can have my header tank cap off when its at hottest an it doesnt pump out of even when i screw cap off it doesnt hiss

which is why I said rad cap - or on your terms expansion bottle cap. That way it's an air leak, not a water leak. Whatever, it's your car.

It depends on what you like, a bit like pink and brown

Read the top of the thread and tells you what sort of cars they fit. you want a blue cap for the 5

But, going off Schackals post, brown caps are for the 1.4 8v engine, and blue for the 1.8 16v?

yeah thats what it says in haynes manual for renault 19 but they did not have
a 1.4 turbo version and as far as i know 5 turbos came with brown caps .

if i was you i would use what i originally had on my car .
