    Alternator problems, plz help me...

    Now, since ive had my volvo engine in (12 months) its gone through 4 alternators, each time as far as i can see its burning the little black magnets right down in the regualtor (black box on rear of alternator), the two pin plug on the back will go on two ways, one way brings the battery light on as it should and goes out when you start it, turn the plug the other way and it doesnt bring the light on or anything, ive had my alternator tester on it and its charging fine on the main cable and theres also a charge coming out of one of the pins, the battery is also dis-charging itself over a few days also so whether that is linked to it i dont know, Has any of the other volvo lads got any advice to cure the problem and what wires do exactly what because its using more alternators than oil filters,lol, and its beginning to wind me right up, thanks in advance, Tim

    sounds to me that you have some kind of wiring fault there, like wrong voltage or current going into the alternator, not very helpful i know

    What charge voltage value do you have in your battery terminals?
    Maybe your battery does not work anymore.
    The basic connection are... 4

    * charge output, this a red o yellow thick cable.
    * ground,this is a thick black cable
    * 12v it's a fine cable. It's the voltage regulator power supply,it's a fine cable
    * the charge ligth.it's a fine cable.

    Check the thick ground cable.
