    195/45 15 or 195/50 15?

    Hey guys,

got the speedline clio 16v, ph1 wheels on my five with 195/45 15 tires on them. Was wondering if 195/50 15 would fit? Would it look funny or would there be any problems with handeling? The 50s are much cheaper so I thought would ask... Any one have them?

    Thanks, Martin

They would rub abit, even more so if you car is lowered.... Dont be a tight @rse, get 195/45's..... Although some people reckon 50's handle better

toyo t1r 50s £40ish a corner cant go wrong, i run 50s on both my 5s both lowered prox 50mm only time i have any rubbing issues is with larger framed passengers an large humps bumps at speed, or if im goin for a proper dukes of hazzard airborne assault. tho the suspension collapsing was prob more of an issue than the tyre kissing the bumper

So one of you would recomnd 50s and one is for 45s? Now Im at the start again What mods would be needed if 50s would be my choice? Any other opinion?

    Thanks!

My raider is very low, 50's are not an option for me as they rub on the rear arches and also on full lock on the inside of the front arch and if I go over a bump with the front wheels slightly turned they catch on the front arch/kit also.

Not sure exactly how low my car is but I would say it's more than 50 mm.

The rear and front arch/kit can be slightly modified by taking some of the arch off, this would obviously involve paint etc.

Wheel spacers made the fronts rub less on the inside but they were still rubbing.

45'S all the way for me, look much better I think. Shame about the cost.

With Clio 16v Ph1 wheels (Turbines), you have to go pretty darn low at the rear to get rubbage with 50 profile in my experience. Even then, it only means whipping out that small protruding rear arch section with a grinder and possibly a wee bit of the inner edge of the fibreglass arch moulding .

I'd go with 45's but if cost is such an issue that you end up with 50's then don't worry about rubbing, it's an easy fix.

If you want to run a track day tyre like Toyo R888, they only come in 195/50/15. I run 50s and do get some rubbing during full lock turns and over big bumps/compressions at the rear. My car is lowered about 50mm ish.
