Haha. He is quality control. He watches whilst I do most of the work. Once I put in the OE interior I had to stop him sleeping in it

Do you know street end road in Chatham? There is a bodyshop there doing it for me.

Am quite worried about what I will do once its finished!!! Once it's done I'll take it to ND next year for sure. Or you can pop over anytime and have a look matey?

Re: Fun With The 5 Begins!!

Well its been a while since I have done much to the 5 but this week I have started on it again.

First job was to repair the rear bumper mounts using the Ashy repair panels that I had. The pic below is how it looked before I started...

I am far from a great welder but I have had a little practice and so I decided to butt weld the repair on rather than just spot weld the whole panel over the top. I then whacked some primer on it to stop rusting until I get the car sprayed. I admit it doesnt look perfect but it is strong and will def hold the bumper.

I then finished off the repair to my windscreen surround which I am more than happy with. It needs a slight bit of finishing by the bodyshop but its a million miles better than it initially was, as seen in the previous pics.

I also cleaned all the muck from the wheel arches and undersealed them to keep the rust and rot away in future years. I also had to remove the existing original decals for the respray. I thought this was a bit of a shame as they have prob been on the car since it was made A heat gun and burnt fingers got the job done

I also removed my tailgate as it was a tiny bit rusty and I sourced a really good condition one which will be going on. For the eagle eyed, the sub and amp will be disappearing too!!!

Hopefully it wont be nearly a year for my next bit of progress!
