    oil and water mix

im having a prob with oil and water mixing, i know that it could be a head gasket but it runs realy well, i have also been told it could be a liner gasket , is there a way to find out which it is. I have changed a head gasket in the past , but im not so sure i could do a liner gasket are they a big job, thanks matt

Pressurise the water/coolant system & see if the pressure gauge drops. If it does, and if you also end up with water in the sump, it's a good bet a liner seal has failed.

do you have oil in your water, or water in your oil, or both?

I doubt a liner seal would allow oil into the water.

hi andy after a closer inspection there is only a small amount of oil in the water header tank this maybe surplus left in the engine from when the head gasket was replaced , think i will flush it and have another look.
