Renault 19 torsion bar snap / slip ??

Got in the car ,pulled on to the street and after 50 yards ,i hear a massive bang which felt like it came from passenger side rear . I pull over and check tyres etc and i notice the
arse of the car sitting much lower than i remember ,i get back in and drive to the garage where the back of the car is kangarooing and lack of springing is getting more obvious .

By the time i get to the garage the car is stting so low ,you cant see the side wall on the tyres as they are hidden behind the arches .

I am assuming splines on the torsion bar have rusted and slipped a notch or 2
but still how the hell The setup is similar to r5 gtt only wider axle .

Any ideas what it could be people ?

luckily i have a spare rear axle to be refurbed and fitted on there

Bars snapped prob, my bosses old courier van did the same.

Completely standard apart from the wheels matey mate

If she did not have 2 new rear arches , full respray , new clutch and g/b
,gearbox ,new rad and a brand new mot a month ago ,i would have scrapped
the hell out of her because of this

But i will have to fix her instead ,which means i will have to practice my
rear axle refurbing skills again

I have lifted up and have a look mate , all 4 bars seem fine .
I will keep this thread updated as i go along
