    DJ's Eunos Project

well as you know i sold the peugeot which was an amazing daily and have no replaced it with a very impractical 2 seater convertible.. Purely because i felt id gone as far as i could with the peugeot and wanted to experiance somthing new.. After the mrs bought a mx5 i became very hooked, purely due to there cheap costs, amazing handling and fun factor, and i honestly cant think of other rwd car that fits in the same bracket.. soo... my search went for a mx5.

    I came back with a Eunos ,S ltd (1-1000).
I was looking for a good canvas with solid enough bodywork but at a price which would leave plenty of cash for paint etc... what i got was an mx5 with the interior i wanted (brothel spec), and very rare ltd edition, very solid bodywork, and amazingly what is actually very good paint aswell... best of still.. i was left with plenty of change from the peugeot after buying it. Car has afresh 12 month mot and 3 months tax..

to say im happy is an understatment, there plenty of bits to keep me busy(, snapped aerial, dirty, snapped wingmirror , bashed centre console.. but nothing that cant be fixed pretty easilly.

    Anyway pics begin.

the 306 matey , 205's my first car so ill be keeping that a long while.. should be going in the bodyshop straight away my renault 5 so that little monster should be out.

As for the mx5 its really just going to be a bit of fun as my first rwd, probably just freshen it up lower it on some nice wheels and ducktail spoiler

Your first RWD? You'll love it! Other than my GTT's (and maybe my CRX), my two favourite cars over the years have been my 200sx and my current 323ise (which is MUCH safer, lol). RWD is ace.

I didn't realise you were getting rid of the 306. Did I miss a thread/post on here? I really quite liked it and was keeping an eye out in case you decided to sell. How much did you get for it in the end?

hehe , yea already loving it man, the mrs has a very nice mx5 however i could never hoon it around like i wanted as my life wouldnt be worth living if i destroyed her ats cups.

Nah i did post it up , i got £1100 for it, was an honest car, cracking for a daily, however i just got to the point where i wanted to try somthing new whilst im young so rwd and convertible seemed the best step

    Brothel spec interior FTW

Nice car . My friend has one similar and she loves it, they do seem to handle quite well. The sealed beam headlamps are a bit though

thought id have a crack polishing metal

The pittings very bad on my rms , so i started with 80 grit.. although ill be honest im thinking maybe an 80 flap disk on a drill will be the answer.

dropped to a good quality 120 grit which has been working far better, however i still have pitting and have been going for ages whilst watching top gear.

    few updates new gaitors

    new mirror

    speakers were dead

    replaced

    carpet drivers side cleaned
    compare

new delivery, and please look twice there not racelands! lol

    new side repeaters

    detango

and i contiued with the wheel.. all the way to 400, i wanted to go higher but had no wet and try above that other than 1500..

I then hit using 3 compounds and 3 heads, and then some hd polish.. the results.. im very very happy with.. there are very light scratches in areas, but the truth is these can only be spotted when angled in certain lights and within about a foot of distance.

fitted the coilovers.. must say you can feel the quality of these meister units just in the way they still soak up bumps , whilst being nice and hard when required.

    hehe , thanks alex

    update..

got a new electric aerial, although im not 100% sure if im keen, also got my ducktail spoiler, it came on a boot lid already smoothed.. its not to bad but the paint finish isnt great and it has quite a few ripples , so when i paint the car at a later date i plan to fill and black it off to improve this..

still a damn cool mod though imo

    Re: DJ's Eunos Project

managed to get hold of a pair of lotus elise mk1 buckets.. virtually no padding, but they give a great seating position , and hug you far far more than it looks like in the pic, only issue is that i managed to weld the passenger mount up on the piss twice.. after the second time i decided theres a reason im not a fabricator by trade and id let somebody better do it!.

I would have prefered them in black but i managed a straight swap for mine, which meant no cash required, which given current circumstances is a big bonus, may change them in the future though, or even redye them.

Purchased a hardtop , really like the shape of it and think it finishes the lines (or lack of) the car great.

The hardtop does have some damage, but it wont be to difficult to repair and ill do that when i repaint the car.

Tried it with teh tinted window but to black for me.

so armed with this it came off

    Re: DJ's Eunos Project

after fitting the prima alloys, i found when 'slidin' one side began to catch and pull.. therefor i though now would be a suitable time to give it a slight arch roll..

I also sprayed any cut edges with a good helping of stone chip, aswell as tin snipped the tabs off to remove any severe lips for crap to build up on.

Thing i will say is ive rolled quite a few arches and had no issues, but these things are horrible.. i think its because the outer arch is actually rounded rather than a flat so a dolly dosent really help other than flatten the arch.. Either way the paint was also pretty terrible and flaked at the first ounce of pressure..

I plan to paint the car , so im just going to fit the wheels, after rolling, then prep and repaint the whole car.

Speakin of wheels, i thought it appropiate

Not yet buddy, ive got some 175/50/15 tyres to pop on, but other than that ive just been drivign it really. Over xmas i will probably trial fit the wheels, and then come summer (after the r5 is done), ill give the car a blow over just to tidy up the few scuffs etc.

    Re: DJ's Eunos Project

did one of the monthly maintence chores on the mazda today, the unblocking of the drain holes , to do so i had to remove the hardtop..

Somehow i then decided to tackle the tatty hardtop , although i planned to learn it till summer for some reason i felt the need to start it.. For those that dont know around the edge it had been badly chipped away and looked a mess, i used a dremel to carefully key up the areas , and began to build them back up, still quite a bit more work, but this is what i got done in just under2 hours today. The whole hardtop has terrible paint so ill wet flat it back to 800 , and give it all a fresh coat of paint.

Knocked back most the fibreglass and finished a few bits i missed, and managed to get some filler one, weather permitting i should have this somewhere ready tomorrow. I may then ask skid nicely for use of his garage to chuck some paint on it.
