Hasnt that black 5 you have bought got a external wastegate? if so depending on how it's piped up it could be closing it would increase boost. which ever way you turn it small steps.

Right I've just had a good read of my boost controller instructions and it's confused me. Think your best off following James instructions but just make sure you take small steps as you never know how sensitive these things are.

If you're connected like this it's the other way around, the more you open the valve the less boost you'll have. But, it's all down to what you've connected to where.

You really need a boost controller to get the best out of that gate.

btw, the restrictor needs to be on the turbo side of the bleed valve

On your car mate you have to wind it in for more boost, out for less boost

restrictor, not resistor - something that basically blocks the pipe bar an ~1mm dia hole. You need one where the arrow points "vacuum hose". But not anywhere else. There may be one built into the bleed valve, and it may, or may not be on the right side of the pipe.
