Try here for the rods and pistons. Block needs boring if you don't use std size as no liners and I think PEC do MLS head gaskets as well for the 172 engine.

Thats a shame as I bought a GTX one for my F7R conversion about 3 years ago. Was only £18 new from Renault.

Renault have sold out of those mounts a little while ago, more than likely down to how many people are doing this type of conversion now

I used a std 5GTT cable for both if memory serves me correctly.

Engine Dynamics do fully built turbo engines for the 172.

I used 5 clutch cable and the phase 1 172 throttle cable due to tb connection end was different to gtt.

I used a clio 16v radiator and oil cooler so used std pipework from 19 16v, GTT and Megane 16v that I had lying around the garage.

What radiator are you going to be using? you can use the 172 rad if you have it if not go down the clio 16v / williams radiator route and a large slimline fan as they will fit in place ok you will need to make a couple of support bracket's for the rad itself, you will need to extend the 172 hoses to the heater matrix but some simple joiners and straight pipe will do the job nicely. I used a mixture of my R5 GTT pipes and 172 pipework for my setup.

Do you mean the front of the turbo outlet is pointing the wrong way? You know you can rotate the front of the turbo by undoing the bolts that sit on th back of that near where the oil feed goes.

    Re: 172 turbo project

When you say in wrong place do you mean the turbo housing's? if so you will have to do what we did with the F7p turbo's and rotate the exhaust and compressor housing's so it would fit properly keeping the core with the feed at the top. You may need to drill and tap the rear of your compressor housing to fit the actuator in a new location on it

Looking good though, I wonder if you could get away with using the Clio phase 1 turbo downpipe like me and Steve use on our F7p turbo conversion

    Re: 172 turbo project

Just stole the downpipe pic from Steve's project thread on www.renault5gtturbo.com

I know that myself and Steve are doing the F7p conversion's but your turbo must sit in a very similar location to our's, I would have thought this would be ok fo you to use. You can pick them up 2nd hand on the clio 16v valver forum for around £150.00

The pictures are from Steve aka 5teveL's project and he is using the K-Tec downpipe as seen in this pic I am using the BBPT version of the downpipe basically same thing although i had to modify one of my holes to fit my T28 properly.

I think the downpipe will work for you aswell

Yeah you just need to rotate the compressor housing so it sits nicely, as said you will also need to remove actuator to do this then drill and tap the rear of the comp housing to enable bolts to secure actuator bracket in place once you have got the housing location done. you will prob have to have the outlet facing upwards

Mine is the same you can see my top outlet pipe just in this pic of my bay

To rotate the compressor housing you will need to first take of the actuator, then undo the bolts at the rear of the front compressor housing just slightly lossen them all and you should be able to rotate the housing quite easily and then just nip the bolts back up again once the position is found, as said the actuator bracket will now need to be located in a different place, i would mark were it needs to go on the compressor housing and then fully remove the front housing and drill out to the correct size thread prob be an M6 or something along those lines to secure it, also leave the old actuator bolts in there holes as they may go straight through the housing and then leak boost otherwise.

My engine is ok present bhp is 0, but when running would be nice to see around 250ish out of it.

Yeah that looks Like the one Volvo t5 jobbie. Check out ashys profile he has photos that shows his mods. You need to move the rail more to the left as your covering thermostat inlet connection. You need to block / get someone to alloy weld the 5th hole

just waiting for the injectors ( 803s )

o yeh i went down to me local welder this mornin and he said he could block the hole of on the fuel rail but is there any other way coz he said it mite be risky ? e.g he could put a plug init then weld around the top ?

Warren, Ashy cut the top engine mount bracket out of a Mk1 clio shell I think it was and welded it into his 5 You will need to relocate the brake fluid resevoir. I know Ashy has loads of pic's on profile take a peak

Sounds like progress is coming on quick shame about upload of pic's
