    insurance hike absolute joke!

New poster! (less than 10 posts)

    can anybody help?

just got the insurance renewal on our mazda rx8 and with no claims/loses/points etc.. its gone up by £750!?
i insured with admiral last year at what i thought was a rediculous £2000 for me (26) and the mrs, but took it on the chin as she was a new driver and 20yrs old.
i couldn't belive it when they quoted the renewal with a years no claims?
i have done searches on various compare websites and the cheapest are about the same? what has caused this hike?

does anyone know any good companies for younger named drivers?

really gutted as it looks like we will have to sell the car if we can't find a better deal

    Re: insurance hike absolute joke!

mine went up.. they told me on the renewal that they found it cheaper, heres where to pay.. erm, thats more, whats it cheaper than, insuring a fighter jet..

i went off and found it cheaper than last year although im losing aa cover etc and some perks, but feck it, im paying £600 to cover the van £600 to keep my gtt policy running and me on "anycar" cover and £500 to insure the dog

its sad to say owning these second cars is taking the p1ss now.. i used to keep them going even if the cars off road for no claims bonus to get it cheaper, thats just not happening..

Total joke, just renewed my 172 insurance, i got it £4 cheaper than my renewal with someone else, i could have got it cheaper paying in a lump sum but im not prepared to do that.

I'm paying the same ball park figures i did on a Porsche and TVR 5 years ago and all i've done is get older and wiser.............no points, claims, nothing............in fact i now have 11years NCB

I can only put it down to the car having a bad rep. Are 172 getting nicked and written off on a regular basis?

I've just renewed the insurance on my Evo. I was dreading getting the quote through, after hearing about the increase in premiums this year.

Imagine my surprise when it came though, and it's dropped by £150 , to a 'bargain' £400

That's with Elephant, if anyone's interested.

    Re: insurance hike absolute joke!

Its all these no win no fee claims that have pushed the premiums up.

Its a funny thing insurance, about 10 years ago i moved once from my 20k flat to my mams 150k house, god them were the days, it was literally 5 mins walk and my insurance doubled.

I changed my evo 6 to a new 8 and that was £500 less to insure, the guy had said it was due to the amount of claims on the particular car.

I ran some quotes on type r civics with the newer shape being less to insure and what about this, it was going to cost me £499 to insure a new focus rs fully comp yet my gt turbo is £550

Im surprised the 172 was not crazy money for you james.

    Re: insurance hike absolute joke!

What a joke ! I am 26 with 4 yr no claims and 3 points.

The 5 on Fully Comp classic with Adiran Flux is around £240, which is fine, but

    My new future run around (2002 330D) is around £1100 !!. A similar aged 320D is about 850 and even the 1.9 8v petrol is 650 !!

It begs the question - WTF ?
