    Smoke

I know I know, not this again - bare with me.

The car has been off the road for 4 years and started but not driven occasionally maybe once or twice a year.

    Newly refurbished turbo

    150psi across all 4 pistons

Oil return pipe is clear and falls away from the turbo.

All breathers checked and are clear, my breather set up is as follows -

From the rocker cover to separator canister above water pump -
    Down to sump
and across to a vented expansion tank.
There are no pipes going back into the inlet manifold from the breather system.

I'm going for valve stem oil seals / Head gasket or possibly wrongly installed breather setup.

    Any opinions??

Also I have booked my mot for Saturday - can this fail the mot? The smoke is not ubber bad just a bit bluey on idle and after pumping the accelarator.

My car litterly smoked the mot station out, the tester was laughing and we had to stand outside for a few mins whilst it died down.
    but it still passed

    Re: Smoke

i'd be tempted to give it a good toe full on the way to the mot station as it might just need a good drive

That has crossed my mind also, I think when I did the rebuild some time ago it smoked like a good un until I had been driving it for a while. Thanks for the comment.

Having a look around Oli, it looks like I don't need one on the cup mod.

ah ok then, cus I just pulled all the breather pipes apart from my old engine and there's a restrictor in the pipe that would normally go in the pipe that connects just after the airfilter or in your case the vented exspansion tank.

I wouldn't worry about it fella, its a new engine, it'll smoke just cus it needs its guts cleared out as Fordy says, so basically give her some death

    Re: Smoke

A quick update in case anyone has this same problem.

After driving the car (not hard) the smoke has cleared itself and even after 100 miles there are still hot smells from various parts of the car, the most notable being my silly side exit as it warms my sill and rear quarter and body kit. I have re-located my emergency breakdown kit to the drivers side rear quarter compartment in fear of it setting on fire on the near side.
