You should be able to make 150bhp on a standard engine Ross. Just make sure the fuelling is right.

Re: what are the benifits of these items

If I had a Performance Cam, T28 Turbo, Ported and polished head, Reground crank and all the fueling sorted with more boost, I'd be hoping for a fair bit more than 150bhp.

Suppose it depends a lot on how much boost you run, but surely you wouldn't bother with all of the above unless you were going to run a decent amount of boost?

FMIC, "group a " carb, and a t28.... dial it up to 20psi and see what you get. i'll guestimate 180bhp.
put a bit more boost in the mix, and some ignition advance and 200bhp is within reach.

Re: what are the benifits of these items

ah well it just so happens to all be on my new 5 so was going to add some blingy bits from my white one and then at least i'd know the potential is there, i set out to get a 150bhp track car but one i could enjoy not risk driving it on the limits ofthe parts etc.

the track action it'll see will be light hearted days nothing major but obviously its nice to be able to one minute have it nice and steady on the road then wang the boost up to an accetable level and use it for fun.

well i'm stoked if it'll see well over 150, that was always the bench mark so the car remained drivable at all times etc.

ah speaking of the advance thing, i have on a spare 5 some kinda adjustable thing on the top of the flywheel going to the aei, i'm guessing this is what you mean however do i need it set up professionally, i have no idea how it fits or works?

also gordon do you mean 20 psi at top or manifold? always confused by this

Random question Ross.. On ebay, the first pic with the other black wheels, is that yours? Because that's the one that was from warrington, right?

no mate used that as an example mine is exactly the same as it, but not got those wheels i thought i'd get away with it due to the fact mines the same, when its not dirty, got to end that auction well reminded as got to pilfer bits of the white one for the new one.

that white one was being sold up north somewhere mate yes by a guy with like 5 they used to advertise them all on autotrader.

at the manifold.... always speak about boost at the manifold.

don't worry about the in-car adjuster for the moment, just set the level at the actuator.... but your right, you should probably get it properly setup.

lol fook that, i'm sure it can but i trust my workmanship about as much as i trust gordon brown to do a good job.

Yeh - prices were a bit OTT, and he has a bit of a bad name on RTOC due to selling a dodgy car to an RTOC member. I didn't go to see it with the idea to buy it, more just to help get an idea what sort of a car you get for what money, as I was looking for a runaround.

The car wasn't boosting up properly. You would plant the accelerator and it wouldn't go anywhere. He said it's because it's running 'standard boost', but my red GTT is running standard boost, and that goes somewhere when you put your foot down. It was a nice looking car, but it seemed to have a few niggly bits. It also had the rad fan on a switch, which to me points to possible overheating problems in the past. Oh and I don't think it had a thermostat, as it wasn't heating up properly, which, again, to me pointed to overheating problems.

Re: what are the benifits of these items

That's exactly what it is mate. My old car, sold it to a lad who used to be on RTOC, had a ball ache with it, tried to get rid but couldn't seem to sell it, so the price kept going down, and down, and down, untill eventually this guy bought it. Few weeks later it's back on ebay after having a good clean (and an advert which took the piss.. things like Ronal Turbo wheels which supposedly cost £1000 new (they actually cost more like £650 with tires) and an external wastegate, which it really didn't have ) with a price tag of like, £1000+ more than what he must have bought it for.

Thing is though, because he's a trader, he can get away with charging a lot more, because people have this idea, that because it's a trader, the car will be mint, and you won't have any problems.

Exactly what I thought being naive - tryed to take him to court too but just wasn't worth it in the end. He could obviously see we hadn't owned a 5 before so took the p***.

It's not the fact of the car being a problem cos that can be fixed, it's just the way he handled it all!

I agree, he is the biggest liar and con man i've ever met - covered loadsa **** up on the car and gets away with it all.

    Sorry rant over

Only just finished rebuilding it cos the head was cracked - I think we might have done that though! Oops.

Going to start it Sun. We tryed last week but the starting motor dowell was in the wrong place so didn't sound good.

Everything's sorted though that was the problem when we bought it. It was only smaller things like sender unit, Renix, TDC etc.

    R5GTTURBOS.COM on AutoTrader (Warrington)

    Trades under:

    J L Motors
    Unit 1
    Bank Quay Trading Estate
    ****chers Lane
    WARRINGTON
    WA1 1PJ

He doesn't always trade under that name though - does it 'privately' sometimes but I can always tell by looking at the pics it's him!

Should I put something in the traders bit - I did do something for the last site?
