    The honest silver ph1

Well as most of you know, I purchased the silver ph1 from Alistair Gresty, I paid £1250 for the car with a few other extra's.

The plans for the car is to have a nice clean looking car for Track and fast road use. The idea of going totally OE on this car is not really an option for me due to expense (ph1 stuff is very expensive)

Since getting the car I have put Red carpet in aswell as a full set of ph2 seats, which are pretty clean and will do the job for now.

I have the engine from The ghost to put in this car, and a turbo which I purhcased from Glen Hi5 (a GT25R) & PWR charge cooler that I purchased from Karlos.

So hopefully the engine side of things will be pretty good and reliable.

I am going to respray my old 15" orange wheels black to go for this car, I could go for ph1 wheels but I am going to run 285mm brakes and 15" tyres are available pretty much anywhere should I need a replacement when out and about

I have purchased some Koni suspension (from neilgttdimma), but they are for a ph2, so I will be taking the ph2 stuff from the ghost and fitting them to the silver ph1.

I have also purchased a Roll cage from Newbstar, its bright yellow atm, but I will be painting it shortly, I am thinking matt Silver...

Bigfoot has kindly put to one side some harness and now I am on the hunt for a set of bucket seats, I have a grey carpet that I will leave in the car, although I may get some fabric paint and paint it black.

After finally getting the silver car out of the barn and getting it on my drive, I have had a chance to wash it & take some pictures.

I will need to sort out a different gear knob (most likely borrowing the clean one from The Ghost & remove some sticky glue/tape from the boot as the car must have had a spoiler on at some point.)

The car it self is in good shape, the underneath is solid with no signs of any rust or welding , the paint work is not bad, but I suspect it may need a respray and some surface rust taken care of over the next year or so... areas affected are front windscreen surround, and bonnet & abit on the doors - sadly means the graphics will need replacing and there not cheap.

The ph1 bodykit has been painted, which looks ok, but has some paint flaking, but does mean the kit looks black rather than faded & dont need black to black on it

I will also be needing some spares such as window winders, a few fuses, and some interior plastic.

    Anyway here are some pictures.

Glad to see you have started work on it. A very nice example. Shane you are not putting all Phase 1 parts back. I do understand though £££s and not easy to get hold of.

    Re: The honest silver ph1

There is a small chance that this car with all the spares, and parts will be sold...

This is IF me and Charlotte get the house were going to go for at auction, if there is anybody interested in the car(as pictured), GT25R turbo, PWR charge cooler, Roll Cage, Engine Fitted with a piper 285 cam, extended clutch pedal conversion, some new bits up the bonnet (brake fluidid bottle, coolant tank), Harnesses and various other spares...

Hopefully will also have the orange wheels back by then, 285mm brakes fitted...

If you would be interested please pm me...

one half of me hopes we dont get the house and I can this car proud, the other half of me really wants the house

New poster! (less than 10 posts)

hello, i owned this car previously, its a very solid and honest 5, glad to see its stayed in rtoc. i bought it with a suspect blowed head gasket, the lad i got it off was a member he had owned it for quite a while and his brother before him, had ph2 wheels and interior and had been stood for a while, think it had done about 50k, i cleaned off the moss and sprayed the body kit as it was very sun bleached, removed the engine as it was breathing quite heavy with plans to fit a turbo'd williams engine but due to circumstances it never happened and sold it to alistair.

have just bought a ph2 5 project myself

good luck with it, and hope to see it back on the road!

Good to see that you have seen this thread Rikki, if you got any paperwork or anything for the car let me know

Today I had some good news, The engine is out of the White 5, now time to go in the silver car...

Today I have given it another wash & then I decide to fit the wheels that I have borrowed from Bill (May have to keep them) & gave the car a good polish.

    Re: The honest silver ph1

The car is now back home (The mechanic doint the engine transplant was taking to long so thought I would give it a go of fitting it myself+ with some local help ).

I have treadted it to one of the Groub buy Raceland Tubular Manifolds from JRP & some 285mm brakes & brackets from C7Borg.

Today I have spent some time Removing the Gearbox from the Engine, have de-gresed it, scrubbed it and am pretty happy with the outcome, going to try and paint it up this week.

Also hoping to de-grease the engine bay, subframe etc this week & myabe get round to fitting the Koni Suspension...

I am on the hunt for some good bucket seats & some cash to buy an AFR gauge from Scoff

I'd be interested in the stainless manifold and the Ian S temp gauge if they haven't been set aside for anyone else.
