Wasn't that for sale on here a couple of years back? I seem to recall the seller reckoned he could get an easy £10k for it. His other car (or was it his missus' car) was a Ferrari 360, as he posted up a couple of pic's of it parked next to the gtt.

Or, given my infamous memory, I could be barking up completely the wrong tree

Another ebay dreamer, the car looks tidy but no way worth that kind of money. Nice tacky dare wheels in the pics

Yeah its the bournemouth one with the horrible cheap wheels that was up for sale about a year ago for ten k. He has actually increased the price by a thousand pounds since earlier in the week. Mental really mine has to be almost as good but I wouldn't expect anywhere near that.

I dont think many people rate ford as a top marque, more down to the ford scene having a bigger following than our humble gtt's. Comes down to demand and what people are willing to pay.

Perhaps not but clearly alot of people do if they're willing to pay £4K plus for one.

Tbh a s2 rst dont hold the money like s1 rst does and i must admit i really like the series 1 but when all is said and donee they are pretty much the same car apart from there was alot more series 2s made. Like i say previously i cant see why the rs gets more than a gtt only thing i can think is that people see it as its a french car

Just look on pistonheads they demand some crazy money, I always wanted one and after having one would not have another. I love the retro styling etc but for all that money you don't get alot in return.

the s1 rs turbo gets more becouse there was only 5500 bought to the uk the other 3500 was sent around the world thought to be less than 250/300 genuine ones left in the uk now so i was told by the rstoc as i have a s1 rs turbo as well they are well over this amount in renault 5 gt turbos around so thats y they are not so much plus with the old comon problems put a lot of buyers off

Im not by any means putting the rst down its good in its own right but for me compared to a 5gtt it comes second by quite a bit. I know this dont have much to do with the topic but this months fast ford has the countrys most powerful 1.6cvh at 360bhp and it still only did a 12.7 1/4 mile. What is it that makes the 5gtt so good at the 1/4 mile run? I even know fully stripped novas running the c20let putting out 300+bhp and tbey cant get near a 5 running about 220bhp

i no what you are saying but the the ford s1 rs turbo is a bit of history for the uk as they was a short build time mainly just to get them in to the rallying side of things there is far more renault 5 gt turbos than mk3 rs turbos its just the way it is mate time will tell as prices may just rocket last min

Lovely motor the S1 RST but not a patch on the GTT in terms of handling and performance. My old fella had a C reg RST back in the day and he sold it after getting his batty kicked on the A5 in north Wales by a black Phase I GTT. I remember it like it was yesterday, pop was gutted as nothing had taken him up to then.. the 5 was like it was on rails. RST was inferior in so many ways.. drums on the rear for one!

IMO a decent 5 should match value of a decent RS Turbo.

Have to agree, the performance & handling of a 'tuned' rst cant even be compared to a half decent gt turbo. I still love the look of a nice series 1 rst but can never get my head round why they are worth so much more.

Yeah Ford did a great job on the Escorts' looks.. one reason why I love Ford/Renault so much..... they can turn boggo-basic into mean-machine!! Sierra, Clio etc..

Like I said before people are paying for the name, ok so the styling is good (a matter of taste obviously) but not as if it has awesome handling characteristics or anything impressive under the bonnet.

I dread to think how much it cost to get 360bhp out of a 1.6 cvh.

Are they recording these figures on their own vintage, 1973 rolling road?

The only way the price on our little gts will go up is when the numbers drop some more, if everyone selling there cars just put on another £1000 onto there asking price maybe more would follow suit.

I never look at a car and think thats a good or bad price for that car i always spend some time looking for what a like for like car would cost to gauge my opinion.

I think people selling probably do the same look at whats out there and price there cars accordingly, not what the true value should be.

Lets be honest there are never massive amount up for sale at one given time.

Problem is there are some real rotter's out there and stupid ali g cars that just keep dragging the prices down.

I would not sell mine for a penny less than 5k, it may sound high but i would rather play the waiting game or break it than sell for a couple of grand.

R5 gt turbo always was and always will be the original pocket rocket. Love the looks of the S1 but in my eyes it was the RS1700T that should of been fords best rocket!
