just a bit more , and you could buy a clio v6

will be a fun car (in the dry) and will hold its value better than the cars you listed, might not be cheap on parts ,but no more than an evo 9 or megane f1 at a guess , just dont crash it

or buy a rollerbearing turbo for the 5 and splashout on a decent billet cam for that b18f , pocket the rest for a rainy day or when things really go tits up in the uk

I would go for the monaro out of that list, should hold its money well, it will be thirsty, but all powerful cars are.

Do not buy an evo 7 yes it looks fresher than the older evo, but its the model people always tend to give a miss, i dont know why, great value for money, i would prefer an evo 5 or 6rs.

Im pleased there was no mention of a scoob

Nothing wrong with scooby's, Ive had my Hawkeye (the best shape ) for over 4 years now, bought it with 5K on the clock, just turned 40K this week. Never had a problem with it at all, other than a blown headlight bulb . Bloody fantastic car for the money, good allround performer & practical too. Ok, not the best on fuel (av 26-27mpg), but you don't buy that sort of car for the fuel economy. Each to their own.

Poor mans EVO, how very dare you

Not so much chocy pistons, very poor mapping by Subaru for emmissions, fuel cutting at the limiter. Mainly on the 07+ STI Hawks & for sure the STI Hatch. Custom remap is a must imo.

P1 & 22B (Good shout Mart) for the Classics
    Bug eye, no thanks
WR1, Litchfield T20, Spec C for the Blobeye
    Litchfield T25, S204, Spec C, RB320 for the Hawkeye
330S with a remap, cosy, for the Japseye, sorry Hatch

My lowly WRXSL is a great everyday car though, but I secretly dream of the RB320

    Re: Decisions, Decisions!!

This months EVO mag has a section on free motoring (i.e. cars that should hold there money if bought wisely for 12months)

They have a section for 5k to 10k me thinks, dont have it to hand at work but memory serves that they recommend the following:

    MK1 JCW mini
    MK1 Focus RS
    Impreza P1
    Golf R32

Saying that, i'd be interested in a monaro........sound lovely

    Re: Decisions, Decisions!!

i can only comment on the Evo 7, when a good friend of mine had one i truly was the most terrifiying thing i have ever been in, it was a '55 plate 260bhp version that he bought brand new and promptly threw approx £8k under the bonnet, i drove it to nottingham to be tuned up the M1 @ 1am bouncing off the limiter in 5th we flew past a VW camper doing about 60mph in the middle lane and it must have been like being buzze by a ufo, it was very good to begin with but once it had about 400bhp on the return journey i nearly shat myself, the tuner took us out whilst fine tuning it and explained that if my m8 took part in too many traffic light gran prix the clutch would not last more than a couple of starts (which he found out to his cost two weeks later when he melted the clutch lol ).

it handled really well with eibach springs and although the servicing was pretty steep AND often he was well pleased with it and tyres tend to melt on them but thats due to driver enthusiam more than anything. very basic interior but then its not a luxury car, and the electrical wizardry can be expensive if a fault occurs. he sold it a few months ago for £7.5k............... now he drives a nissan micra to work hahahahahahahaha
good luck in your quest dude

    That's an Evo 9, not a 7

I like the 9's. They're one of only a few cars that I'd get rid of my Evo 6 for

Ahh, I was going to add that they didn't do the 9 with 260bhp, only the 8

So it's a 7 according to your earlier post, an 8 in the power department, and a 9 in the bumper department? An Evo 7.89 perhaps?

Haha, I was writing a post saying it'd be an 8 260... some say it's not a real Evo
I deleted it as I thought it was being picky

It's a bit like an R5 GTmortgage, times about 50 in the repayment department

Dogs? Pah. I'd rather have a nice pussy, than an old dog. If you're lucky you can get the Herpes for free as well

Not sure about the Myth regarding the V6's in the wet...Mines a biatch sometimes when its damp..(cars a handful as well) ..

A friend of mine is a mechanic in the local VW garage and and he stopped me from getting an R32 when I eventually bought the V6...told me the Golf GTi was a much better car...hence why I bought the Clio
