    Ol' Whitey

    Well, here we go again....

Not sure how it all came about but the upshot is I've ended up with a new project.

    Heres a pic

Its not in the Mint condition, needs some TLC and a lick of paint but the shells nice and solid and it also has full electric tilt and slide sunroof.

Not sure what the main aim is yet. Options so far are:

Keeping the C1J and restoring it to totaly standard and just running around in it for a while.
Keeping the C1J and fitting a T25/28, Cam etc and going for fairly standard but quick.
Or something wierd like finding either a written off clio Dci or Twingo Turbo and building the whole car into the R5 shell...

Just ideas floating around my head, not sure when I'll get time to do it as the other one needs a lot of hours throwing at it.

So... I've got a few questions...

Does anyone have - A passenger side under light trim, pair of wing mirrors and petrol cap cover. Any colour is cool but would prefer white if possible. Also a mint interior if there is such a thing?

Also, I've a set of campus rear windows that i'm thinking of fitting instead of the rear openers... Can anyone confirm if they can be fitted and still fit the interior plastics?

Finaly does anyone recognise the car? Its been around a bit... It has an old R5 GT Owners Club Sticker & Radbourne Racing written on the rear window.

Also the rear number plate has "RENAULT - Trinity Cars Ltd - 01-871-2611" on it.

Any ideas where that is? I guess the phone number is before they added the extra digits...

    Cheers Ashy.

Duno, I googled it and it came up with Renault on Trinity road Salford, Manchester. However, the phone number doesnt tally with a Manchester code?!

    Re: Ol' Whitey

its an old london dialing code I guess. like manchester used to be 061, then it went to 0161 (added the 1) so maybe parts of london used to be 018 then it became 0118 ?

Yep, defo an old London code - Was in use upto mid 1990 iirc, before changing to 071/081, then 0171/0181, then to 020 as it is now.

Well good news, I took her along to the garage this morning knowing she would fail the MOT as it had no seatbelts in the back... Still they've arrived today and just need fitting.

Anyway, other than the rear belts she failed on:

    Rear stop light bulb.
    Wiper blade.
    Headlight alignment.
and the passenger front seat belt buckle (the stalk bit) is broken...

So I can sort everything tonight... Just need the seat belt stalk... Best get a wanted advert up. The chap that did the MOT said it was a mint little car, the brake lines are original but look brand new goto be happy with that

Well after an engine change, 2 different cylinder heads, 4 different turbos and god knows what else she's back up and running... Runs sweet now so well happy with that.

So today I decided to strip the interior out as the carpet was minging and the seats were tatty. Having a spare 5 up the garden I decided to strip the interior out of both cars and pick the best bits for old whitey.

I've now got a complete interior with boot carpet and luggage finishers & spent a couple of hours with the jet washer making the carpet nice and fresh... Its all coming together now and should be all back together tomorrow.

What was a nice supprise was how solid the floor was... It almost looks brand new...

Seems to be a combination of a duff engine to start with, then a new engine with a duff head, then the new T25 was smokey

So now I have rebuilt bottom end, Skimmed and re-built head and the original T2 turbo...

Gona getthe T25 rebuilt at some point and put that on
