    Oily ports

I've been stripping down the engine to clean her up and noticed oily residue in the inlet manifold. This, I'm not worried about but the presence of oil in one exhaust port on the block is of concern.
Is this a major problem and what might be the main cause of this happening? Should I change the piston rings to be on the safe side?

    Re: Oily ports

We bought the car as a non runner due to the previous owner not finishing the conversion. By all accounts he was a genuine guy. The engine was started an ran after the conversion but never driven.
Would hate to do all the new conversion work (engine came in a GTX) and then realize the engine needs to come back out for 'rings or worse!

I'd say poss worn valve guides if its oil residue in there.
