    Re: Clio Williams 20v

    ace, great work

whats the clutch m/c from ? I tried a mini m/c in the bulkhead with my new 02M, insufficient volume, then couldn't find a VW m/c with a propper (threaded) resivoir hose fitting - instead they were all plastic with those awfull plastic fittings and metal clip arrangement. In the end I used an old 02J slave cyl as a master cyl, I just bleed it backwards. seems OK but incase I have problems I quite like the look of your setup

Busy weekend…. It might be done for the National day but unlikely it will be mapped

Few things ticked of the list
    Gear linkage

    And Speedo

    Fan…bit tight

    Header tank with custom pipe

New heat shield…. Not sure about it?? might have to re-do it!

Turbo is all plummed in… oil return was fun to fit!

    Inlet manifold and Injectors in

Just need to start the pipework

Oh and find a smaller throttle rocker (or just a steal one I can modify…. Anyone got one?

Not much to do in the grand scheme of things…

Gonna be a few late nights this month!

    Re: Clio Williams 20v

Flan, for future ref the 0.75 I bought works ace with the 02M in my car. So it should work fine with your 02J/A

For comparision sake it takes about 1.3" of piston travel to fully disengage. I don't know where 0.75 comes from because it's bore was 20mm or over, not 0.75" like I expected. Just aswell because the cylinder will only travel 1.5", compared with the 2" of the old VW one I took out and I was worried there would not be enough volume. Turns out there's just enough

Nice one Scoff, yer mine is really Light but works great. Infact the biting piont is high but i have room to adjust it.

The Engine is a BAM from a TT225 but im sure them Cupras run the same lump?

Had it mapped on Wednesday. Up to Emerald for full ECU re-map. all went well except a sticking thremostat but that didnt take long to fix

    Re: Clio Williams 20v

was tempted to go quattro but ill stick with 2wd (1wd with my diff) and see what happens. Its a stock BAM with 440cc injectors and a VF34 turbo.

This Project has turned from “Just an Engine swap” to “Full Restoration”

I was hoping to just sort the arches, paint the outside then over the winter do all the underneath...ect BUT on closer inspection the sills needed repairing in sections, the jacking points were going and underneath looked a bit tired....

So i decided to bite the bullit and do the lot.

    Boot is foobared

This is the only rust inside the car

    Inner sills are ok

Then just remove all the paintwork/rust with my new favourite tool!

Ive defiantly seen worse on Clio’s The reason the arches are sooo bad is they must have been repaired about 5years back and they just put filler over the rust! Its good in a way as these are all the original panels and the car has never been welded.
2 arches and sills ordered.... gonna be a busy week!!

Poor Ex 20v (Big Steve Dont Look!!!!)… At least parts of the car will live on!
Always handy having a spare… you can see where everything is joined and plated. The black one is good in places but poor in others (check the front corner) it seames no two clio’s are the same!!

    My inner sills seam ok

First job remove all body sealer… FUN!

Had to repair a small patch but not to bad. Then ill treat this area and put the sill on.

    Finish with something like this

Next… the joy of the Rear arches!

Did you get any more pictures during welding on the sill patch ?

Na sorry mate thats all i have. Do you need any info? i was hoping to do this over the winter but if i dont do it now it will never get done....

Not many pics on this either, as I was to busy sweating and swearing
A few.. All the rusty rear corner removed… no going back now

    New section fitted

Then I spent hoooouuuuurs recreating this corner section. It took forever! But im happy with the result (still needs tweeks before painting)

It took me most of the weekend to get this far…. You can see why bodyshops NEED to charge so much. If you want it don’t right that is! Should have this side don’t tonight then onto the other side…which was worse on the sill… oh Joy!

Had a bit of an Epic fail and lost loads of pictures… Ghaaay! I have a few for an update.

    Finished the Sill off

Also had to make this into the floor… bit OTT just to hold up the brake like holders but oh well!

    Repaired the floor

Then rubbed down the whole underneath of the car ans treated any rust, followed by 90% Zinc rich primer on any bare metal, then Shultz’d the lot, pic taken after I fitted the tank n fuel line.

Had a bit of fun with a door pin

Rear beam back from the sand blasters

Painted in thick zinc primer then hamerite (with a gun) looks good.

Just need to fit up a few things tonight then off to the bodyshop!!!

    Re: Clio Williams 20v

PMSL cheeky git!........but there is an element of truth there lol

I dont have that much left tbh
    - Make custom seats (foam jobbie)
    - Remove exhaust and change angle of downpipe (not happy with how close it is to the chassis
    - Finish install of boost controller and mount gauges
    - Make new boost hose with T for idle controller & recirc valve
    - Strip diff and remove crush washer and replace with solid spacer, also looking to treat the other bits to add some extra strength (poss fit ATB diff)
    - After diff work decide on turning the boost up on oe map or get a chip / RR session done
    - Some form of solution for air intake if wet
    - Finish the bonnet and nose cone
    - Spray offensive green
    - Stick my stock of stick on real carbon stuff
    - Install oil pressure sensor and hopefully temp also

-GET on track and test - dont want Spa in october to be the shake down test (although did that with the vag 5 conversion lol)

    DG

So prob a couple of days work and tidy a few smaller things out but just dont have the time spare atm having a n hr hear and there gets bugger all done

Well a small update, work has been slow. Mainly because there flat out painting cars for “paying” customers…..thats not fair right?
The workshops always full, currently a full paintjob on all theses…even the 1962 Silver Cloud at the back! Its getting a bit of work when they can, hopefully in full primer this week.

    Wheels Update

    The paint £28+vat for 0.5L

    Base coat done

Finished, the colour looks different in every light as it’s a xirallic paint….. Unless Northy sends me his I cant see how different they are but im not too fussed, they look cool!

Its Just v expensive paint i guess i think because its Xyralic (Sp) and metalic. Some paints are silly expensive its more that 449 sports blue. IIRC My Blue was £80 per litre +vat. buy the time this project is done i would have spent over £500 on Paint, Laqure, filler, papers, gun pots, thiners, body sealer, primer, waxoil...ect it soon ads up ay.

    Sills coated in stonechip

    Ready to go

Just need to prep all the parts and paint them now!
