just to confirm theres no slight mayo in the filler cap, and the cars loosing water..

.. looks like its time i pulled my other engine out the garage and gave it a spruce up.

Remove the Sparkies and see if you have water/ coolant in any of the cylinders, watery plugs would be a clue, might be worth doing a comp test aswell to see which cylinders are low.

This weather cars steam massively. if you can get a carbon monoxide tester on there thats an easy test, see if your header tank smells petroly the big change in temperature causes a fair bit of pressure in your header tank. Make sure its not just a leak and a seperate misfire fault.

to be fair the engine has a knock and refuses to hold oil, so for what its worth ill just use it as motivation to build up my other one.

also i took the car to my garage and noticed the temp shot up , the stat was stuck , and then it released, it did this twice. im thinking its stuck at some point, boiled up and i didnt notice it hence the hg.. the fueling etc was spot on if anything a little rich.

Standard piston/liners are strong enough, you need to set the fuelling/boost up better

Craigy5gt, the pistons and liners are not your problem as mentioned before.

well tackled this job today with my mate tom, whipped the head off and indeed headgasket had gone.

Also noticed the actuator had come loose over time , and was splitting apart.

its all back together now with fresh oil etc, however it has a constant missfire, for the moment im blaming this on the fact we did most the job in the rain so leads etc are all very wet.

    few pics

and the derv doing its thing
