    Re: R5 gt 1.4t swap to b18ft

It was time to put the radiator and the loom and to start the engine. The radiator is from vw mk2 or mk3 and the fan it's from vauxhall. Because the vw fan it didn't fit just not space. And here is the video from the firts start

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rHJWyh7ZXWQ.

The reason why the engine it didn't work normaly is the injectors didn't have minus. So i put cable and now i have the minus but the injectors was working on 100% so a lot of fuel and it was more than enough. I was thinking that the ecu didn't give minus but after that some of my friends told me that the ecu give the plus on signals. But the problem come from this that i change the cables which conect the injectors to the loom. I can't find from volvo 1.7t so i bought from r19 full injection. And they are on the other side the 19 it's from the gear box and the 1.7t it's from the timing belt . So the cables wasn't on the same line. So i cut them but i din't conect them corect. So this was the reason why i don't have minus on my injectors. But i find out this when i bought my second ecu's and loom. I just check what signals come to the injectors. I was amazed on two of the injectors i've got two "+" and the other two 2 minus. So i conect the cables in different way. And this time the engine start but after that turn off. I was thinking damm now what is wrong. So i start to unplug the sensors which are on the head. When i unplug the sensor which is on the right side of the detonation sensor. And the engine start to work but turn off when the engine is at normal temp. But i was happy that the engine start.

    Re: R5 gt 1.4t swap to b18ft

Hello every one, so when i start the engine i go for a drive and it was good fun. I drove 250 miles on even low pressure than the std. So when i rich 250 miles i put the pressure to be at the std pressure and the car was nice. But it wasn't this what it need to be because the intercooler from the 1.4t was broken so i drove with this intercooler. After that i take off the intercooler and i put it with out. It was better but the air it was warm. And i start to work with the bumpers

them bumper are going to be very difficult to repair mate, with regards to where the cracks are etc.. id personally buy another pair of bumpers and go from there bud, by the time your spent lots in sand paper and filler plus the fact it will quite possibly crack again it would be the best option i think.

    Kind Regards

interesting position of expansion tank, looks like it came from the factory like that. always wondered what the two blanked holes in the bulkhead were for. also note this guy has filled and smoothed the ph1 underlight trims

I will buy 440cc injectors, walbro 255l/h fuel pump, garrett t3 or turbo from mitsubishi evo, also i will put mega squirt. The idea is arround 250 bhp.

    Nice work Yosif.
You need to change the standard cam to acheive some hp figures nearer to the 250 that you want. The standard cam is very restrictive. for intercoolers most on ebay will work just need to get them to fit. The most popular one for a short pipe run is used by fellow members schwartz and philg, have a look at their project threads for some ideas.

    Re: R5 gt 1.4t swap to b18ft

Custom cam maybe needed for 250hp as the n/a 2.0 Volvo cam is supposed to be at it's breathing limit at 230hp. Member Dave r5 has acheived 233hp at 18 psi using this cam. Also need the larger 2.0 throttle. If you go down the custom cam route the standard cam can be ground to a piper 279 ( I think?) philg has had this done, expensive though as you need to have shims made up at the same time too. Is a 279 piper cam profile better than the n/a 2.0 volvo "e" cam? I don't know! Larger high impendance injectors will be needed, as well as fuel pump and custom downpipe. Fellow member scoff can take away the ecu boost limit, so you could use the standard ecu and boost module, thus saving money on the megasquirt. All these options Depend on your budget.

    Hello again

the megasquirt it cost me only £100. I will fit it by my self and to make the whole settings, or to make the megasqurt to work perfect will cost me £150. So it's not to bad.

I don't want to drive with the std electronic.

What do you think to take cam from r19 107 bhp. I think this is better than this what you told me but will see what hp i will have with the r19 cam.

Give the R19 cam a try, don't think anyone has really tried it so its hard to say how well it would work.

If you could get the spec of it it may help in determining how well it'll work.

    Re: R5 gt 1.4t swap to b18ft

Sorry for long time i didn't post in here. So just to say till what is my project. I bought Avo front coilovers in very good condition, bought them from a guy here from Rtoc.

Here are the pics of the suspension and before to fit it and after

    Before

    And after

After that i bought from one of my mates he's old intercooler which need to be fit

When i was driving the car the air flow meter get wet and some how i lost the top of the air flow meter and got wet. So the car was running very bad. And with mixture with the wrong temp. sensor the car start over flow with fuel and from the exhaust start to come fire And start bang a lot. So i change the air flom meter but the ruber pipe some how get snaped. So to the time when the engine i try to found whats wrong which eventually i found. So long story short the turbo brake down, because of the bangs. It was so loud that your windows can fell down .
    So here is the result

    This is the std T2

This week i will buy td04 from subaro, and 300lph fuel pump.
Now the plane is to buy parts for betweem 200 and 250 bhp. The td04 it's not the best option but this is what i will use in the beginning.
I planed to do the paint job this summer so maybe in 2 monts will paint the car, because now it's in very bad condition as you can see.

And i want to say thank you very much to Markey Mark and to Scoff, for all the patience and for all the advise what they gave me. Thanks guys

Will keep you posted when i have something new
    Cheers for now

New update from the last hour

Today I fit the Mega Squirt with new wiring. Just need to finish the down pipe and to put back the intercooler with the boost hoses and pipes, and the water radiator + hoses.
In the next few days will start mapping .

This is the first start with the Mega Squirt

Project looks ace matey you will love the low down power and spool of the b18ft. How easy was the megasquirt to fit matey? What sensors etc... Did you need for it?

    Thanks mate

It's not hard to fit the mega squirt, you need, ignition coil the original one from b18ft, tps, injectors, and temp. sensor the one on the right side of the detonation sensor.

The whole wiring for the Ms is around 15 cables and 2 relays one for the fuel pump and one for the injectors just need to double check this. You need also + from the contact key. If you want i can make scheme of the whole wiring and can send you pm with everything what you need for the Megasquirt.

Today the boost pipes and the water pipes all in place

It's not the nicest engine bay but for now it will be like this. I hope in a few months time to respray th engine bay.

Also need to buy slim vent for the radiator because there is not much space.
