    would you belive it.

hi,well had my 5 up on ebay this week and would of ended saturday night, but took it for a drive last night and went into third heard a thud then my exhaust dragging on the ground pulled over and stopped straight away thinking its my exhaust fallen off, then on further inspection the rear engine mount had broke and the engine has just dropped.it gave me no sign that it was on it way out no knocking or anything just went.so iv ordered some mounts and just going to leave the car until they get here, but just wanted to know is there any chance this could of damaged or broke anything else or do you think it will be ok and just change the mounts and job donesorry about the long thread

i'd expect whats broken to be all thats broken, just a mount.. you will have stressed a few other parts, shafts, front mounts etc, but your fixing its straight away so expect no harm to be done..

just try gently lift the engine off the other mounts with a pry bar, if there not moving there ok.. just give the car a look over and listen out for any noises, i think it'll be fine tho

i'd say it'd be fine too, I broke mine at Mallory did a few laps with it broken and drove 200 miles home. Took a couple of hours to change the mount not too difficult just awkward to do.

i bet its not the mount.
it'll be the metal bracket that the mount bolts to.
metal round the bolt hole will have sheared, or the bolt come out.

    it happened to me.
engine landed on the gear linkage, could only get 3rd.

all done now and back up on ebayit was the bolt that holds the braket to the engine mount that snapped, the bottom one,but the mount probably caused it as it was a right state.well all done now and drives fine so back on ebayhttp://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...STRK:MESELX:IT
