I think the idea was least amount of time off the road, Ric sends us the bits to modify, then pays a vist once they are done and we fit it all up.

    Re: Clio 172 Project

I don't think i'm jumping the gun as the deal on something else i've done is all sorted.

Basically this is the end of the road for this project and this ol Clio

I've really enjoyed owning this Clio, for over 2 years it's been everywhere and loved driving it but now it's time to move on. Fear not as parts from it will be used on the next venture/project, it's making way for something in my opinion much better. The end product will be worth it

    Re: Clio 172 Project

Well as some people are aware I have got hold of this lovely 172 again... Was mine in Dec, 2007, extensively rebuilt and then sold in July 2008 to Ric.

The car was pretty much stripped Mechanically and used as a Donor car for Ric's white track 172... and old blue was given to Matt@coderedmotorsports.

Matt got hold of another engine, gearbox and various other items and put it in old blue (also did the all the belts etc).

After much pestering Matt finally agreed to let it go to me, it still needed a few things, some I had to get new(From Bigfoots Work ), most I got from Ebay, cliosport and a few friends...

Matt has been working on old blue for the past few days, had to sort the wiring loom, fit a small rad (Off a VW Polo) (Perfect IF I decide to go for ITB's or even turbo route), plumbed it all up and refitted the dash, it now starts 1st time and runs sweet as.

Just waiting on a few more bits to arrive and then it should all be finished and MOT'd.

Its pretty much standard, lowered 40mm and apart from the Rad thats about it.

It will be good to get it back on the roads again, looking back to how I had it in 2008

    Re: Clio 172 Project

It's nearly ready, poor old Matt has been tinkering around with the Clio in the freezing cold...

Today he fitted the new dash with a tray seeing as I don't have airbags

Also he wiped clear some fault codes, sorted out some wiring, fitted a new head unit, air box, made a few brackets in the engine bay...

Car should be mot'd tomorrow... Fingers crossed

    Re: Clio 172 Project

Collected the car today from Matt, anybody needing work done on the their car please speak to matt.... He is quality.

The idea for the clio was to get it on the road as cheaply/safely as possible and keeping pretty much standard,,..

Which has been done, matt has made a few things instead of buying parts which has really helped my wallet not to take a beating.

The clio a few months ago was a project that could have easily been broken up for spares and not to see the road again, but thanks to matts hard work and money saving ideas its back on the road once again.

    Re: Clio 172 Project

    Back up for sale...

Needs a gearbox fitted in due course (current one click ins 1st gear - still drive but use 2nd to pull away) ... A decent 2nd hand gearbox supplied with the car

Does require some tlc to roof and bonnet - ideally resprayed

    Spec as follows

    2001 172 clio sport
172,000 miles (still going very strong)
Serviced in jan 2013 by Matt@coderedmotorsport
    Mot jan 2014
    Tax aug 2013
Belts all done around sept 2012 and covered 100 miles since - cup mod/air con deleter set up all genuine renault parts used.
Standard shocks lowered 50mm on apexi springs
    brembo front disc
    Braided brake lines
    New rear disc/bearing/pads
Lighten due to sound deadening removed
VW polo rad (ideal for those looking for ITB's/ also makes it easier when servicing
Air bags removed/light switched of on dash
Ciio 16v dash top (with dash holder) - will get a pic to show

Looks very standard, is pretty standard car, lovely to drive, would look mint with the roof/bonnet painted... But its a cheap every day car so no need to worry.

    Message me if interested...
