All finished and passed its MOT

Well after about 11 months the car is now finished, insured, taxed and on the road.

I can not believe how hard it is to drive, used to newer cars in my old age . I have had so many people commenting and looking at it, even someone wanted to buy it straight of me.

The mot tester was very impressed and said it was alot better than he had expected it to be.

I still have a few thing to sort out, water temp gauge and oil press gauge light but do not rise up, fan cuts in so that ok.

My boost gauge on the dash is level with engine off then drops down below the marking when running.

Bumpers and bonnet need a bit of a shift about, but all jobs i can be getting on with while at work I am also going to raise the back end half an inch.

Thanks for all help help guys, you know who you are

Watch out, its winning best car next national day

Its been 10 years since i sold my last gt turbo and 13 years since i fist drove one, i can honestly say despite the harsh ride it made me feel 24 years old again.

I will get some better pictures from my digi camera up when i have given it a good polish.

Re: All finished and passed its MOT

Never again, i have been to hell and back with this car, its caused sleepless nights, grief of my girlfriend, missed time with my little boy, so bad tempered when things went wrong and is doubled the cost of my original budget.

I could have bought another persons car but it would never have been the same and god knows what might have been lurking underneath.

Its done now, so just i will enjoy the good times to come. I will be getting to some meets next year and meet some new faces to

For those of you old enough, i have also bought a Daniel poole jacket as part of my mid life crisis , she can not decide whats worse

the standard boost gauge is not designed to read vacuum ( normaly taken from before the carb) i guess you have it to the plenum so its trying to make it read vacuum but wont do any damage and will rise when boosting looks ace tho matey all the hard work has paid off

before throttle blade will read boost only, anywhere after the throttle blade will read vacuum and boost, the throttle/venturi in the carb is the restriction that causes the vacuum. (Its this vacuum thats used for your brake servo) not a problem on your gauge. just not the original way. Lovely looking 5

Re: All finished and passed its MOT

I had considered buying them anyway or azev a or some borbets c.

They came on the volvo 440 i bought for the engine, so happy days.

I thing £100 would be a safe bet, £200 for a propper refurb and £250 for tyres. They had 195 45 16s on them and they were huge and caught the arches

Put up some interior picture buddy. I want to know what lengths you have gone to save weight to try an beat me.

I'll make sure i put some ballast in mine to make it more fun instead of the inevitable walkover.................

No real wight saving in it, all interior plastics in the car, electric window, c/l removed, all the sound deadening has been taken, head lining, the heaviest thing i took out was the spongy foam that goes behind the dash, it weighed a ton.

To be honest fitting the cage has probably added the weight back in.

    Here are some more pics.
