I have bought all new panels, front and rear bumpers, front and rear arches, new sideskirts and new bonnet and all new fixing clips and rubbers. I have also had the tacky petrol cap removed from the boot and put back in the original place on the rear quarter. I have bought all new lights including fogs and indicators. I have also bought a few new parts from gt tuning, the dump valve, spider valve, in car boost valve. I have spent £4000 lol. but its all worth it restoring one of these gt turbos. here are a few pics of the project.

You're making a decent job of that

Thank goodness you raised the rear suspension, the poor thing looked broken.

You should look at sourcing some new headlights, they make a massive difference to a fresh look at the front end.

hi mate its done 80 000 , i have heard it was mqueens car before, who is he?? some one who had owned it before me had bodged the body work and i found 40 balls of squashed newspaper in the sills filled and painted over, so all that was took out and inner and outer sills replaced, i have pics but only in photographs so cant upload, the car is coming to now just need all the little bits and bats that take time, but i started buisness 12 months ago so mowed out at moment, its getting done slowly though, thanks for all your comments,

McQueen is no longer a member hasn't been for some time now, he sold he car onto some who went by the name of Rozza whom done over a few members off here with monies for parts they never received, then all went quite car disapperared then believe it turned up at the nocturnal developments place and now yourself is the owner of the car.

Re: my r5 projects, finally, long thread!!

The story goes something like this.

    McQueen owned, great looking car

Rozza owned and crashed (rear quarter ?)
During that time it was bodge repaired and painted VERY badly. Also fuel filler had been blended over and re-located inside the boot (!)

Then it was sold and bought by a local motor trader that Haz @ Nocturnal did a lot of work for. It came in for some general tidying and a blow over. The fuel filler (I think ?) was re-located to it's propper home at this point.

Later sold again, to you ?

Definately the same car, I remember the front cross panel having been cut out.

Glad to see you've brought the car back to life

Re: my r5 projects, finally, long thread!!

hi mate, when i got the car, fuel filler was still in boot. i had it put back to original place, i heard about the rear quarter before on the other forum, but when i took it to bodyshop the rear quarter was sanded back to bare metal and it seemed straight, unless it wasnt so bad of a bump. the spray job was very very bad , ive had it done properly now which cost me 750 for the welding work to cills, filler cap and bumper points and 1750 for the paint job. car was sanded right back to make sure no bodged spots were hidden, the finish is very good now, going to get it flat and polished, just need to get both front wings repainted as someone dragged a carpet acrosss them in the garage, luckily bonnet was off!! its good to see people know the history of the car and im glad its now returning to its former glory, the car in that picture looks very good mcqueen must have looked after it, its funny you mention nocturnal developments as i bought this car and also that donor car in the pics above off the same lad and the donor car had a nocturnal developments sun strip on it, so nocturnal must have worked on both cars for same owner maybe, i fully hpi'd the g5 nos and checked my vin numbers and they all match, no sign of a write off etc so its all looking good

Re: my r5 projects, finally, long thread!!

I saw the car after the crash when I went to Rozza's house to collect something (this was before he ripped people off from the owners club), and it was the drivers side rear quarter. Tbh, I don't remember the full extents of the damage. May have just had a full rear quarter fitted though, so sanding it back to bare metal wouldn't necessarily show this.

Re: my r5 projects, finally, long thread!!

possibly but why would they smooth over the petrol cap hole on a new wing, i think the rear quarter must have been dinted around the filler cap and they have patched over it, but it didnt look damaged really at the body shop, oh well, least its all sorted now , just bought some new team dynamics tornados black and red to put toyos on for my performance wheels and keep the rh classics for winning the shows!!haha
