    R5 2.9 V6 4x4

Both my brother (Big Dan C) and myself have owned R5GTT's for quite sometime now (10 years+) and throughout this time our dad has always been saying that he'd do things differently/better etc... Well, a couple years ago my brother had a spare rolling shell and gave him the oppertunity to prove himself. It took him a while but he finally started on his project this year.

Rather than going down the usual route of modifying what was already there or just replacing the engine with a bigger one, he decided to take it a little bit more to the extreme.

He took the R5 and removed the chassis, suspension etc so all that was left was a basic R5 shell. He then got hold of a Sierra XR4x4 and removed the shell leaving only the chassis, suspension etc and then shortened it by about 9 inches. He's now put the R5 shell onto the Sierra chassis and practically everything line up perfectly. Oh, I forgot to mention. The Sierra had had a Cosworth V6 engine conversion when he got it.

He was trying to get it done for Mallory but just didn't have the time. Oh well, there's always next time.

Sorry about the large pictures, I'll resize if necessary.

It looks very odd, but respect to the old man!! Dave SBS currently has a 5 with an 4x4 escort floor pan welded to it. I think the owner is fitting a cossie lump in it. Im sure Dave can tell us more.

After having concerns that with the rad in the back he would only be able to fit a small fuel cell in, he's had a bit of a re jig with the front end and has now fitted it back in the front. Not only that, but it was such a good fit that all the OE water pipes went back on. As a result he was able to get everything attached, fluids topped up and wiring temporarily connected. Engine started first time.

this is going to be interesting to see on the road, i cant quite get my head around the front end though

just doesnt look right with the sierra indicators and 5 lights well above them, the stance is awsome though with huge wide arches and sills

how about using a mazda 323 turbo chassis?
